Which dump valve?

which dump valve does anyone recommend to get a nice loud whoosh!! to go onto a 2000 bugeye wrx

WildPikey 11 April 2011 09:48 PM

:fight: That's fighting talk on here mate, asking about dump valves, Be prepared :lol1: I have nothing against them though and I personally like the sound of the HKS SSQV :thumb:

Billet 11 April 2011 09:50 PM

The original recirculating one is best for your car, but if you want a woosh then the turbosmart megasonic is your best friend. matty is selling one but you will need an adapter made for it to fit the top mount intercooler.

I would recommend the hks sqv dump valve nice sound off it.

tommyjdm 11 April 2011 09:57 PM

Baileys is very nice. I have one for sale in the for sale section that was on my Bug Eye.

coz they are chavvy pieces of tat. no good to man nor beast.

Curtiz 11 April 2011 10:19 PM

I used to have a Turbosmart dump valve, it was on the car when i bought it. All my mates said it sounded great, i found it ok but i put the standard dump valve back on because i hate dump valves personally

WildPikey 11 April 2011 10:20 PM

Not as chavvy as big spoilers and exhausts though which nearly every spotty teen has on their motor! Must be the area I live in but I've never seen a 12-17 year old rolling round in an Impreza :lol1:

Sold the 2002 STI and bought an RB320.

alcazar 12 April 2011 09:06 AM

Unless you want overfuelling, with possible borewash, and your cats, if any, knackered, stick to the dumpvalve you have.

And don't touch Baileys with a ten metyre pole: cheap crap.

tommy_lommy 12 April 2011 11:28 AM

HKS SSQV loud pppsssshhhhh

alcazar 12 April 2011 01:33 PM

Lean out of the window and shout, "Look at me!!!!" every time you change gear?

CHOLTON 12 April 2011 07:22 PM

I had a HKS SSQV on mine and did 12 miles before I took it off again. thought I'd like the sound but found it embarrassing in the end......

russellgarwood4174 13 April 2011 03:48 PM

i like the sound of shouting look at me when i change gear, is there a certain tone i should use in my voice to get them most attention?

Modifications 13 April 2011 04:02 PM

russellgarwood4174 13 April 2011 04:08 PM

hello modifications,

how much did that cost you if you dont mind me asking?

does it give a nice sound?

thanks

The Rig 13 April 2011 04:32 PM

I love all the comments made against dump valves.

Dont listen to all these old farts ;) :fight:

I have an original HKS ssqv on mine, for me,too quiet, chirpy, been on the car for 5 yrs now with no running issues so thats good, but currently have the megasonic to swap it out with (yes,im a 31 yr old chave but hey) :lol1:

I spend too much time shouting at the kids so cant shout out the window when i`d like, hence the dump valve.

im not into sleepers, hence the d/v, hi level spoiler (which hold their value still for some reason (genuine ones ) ;))/mudflaps,you get the idea :luxhello:

If you like them, run one,if you get fuelling issues, dont run one, when i went back to recirc my mpg was pretty much the same, maybe a couple of mpg`s more, but that could of been cause i had a slower driving week etc.

the pro`s/cons all vary,d/v`s help the turbo life by not casuing it to stall etc,but thats another thread, isnt it lads

Running no dump valve sounds even better!
You'll need a stronger turbo in the TD series and a fmic with induction kit to achieve the best noise :)

I love the sound my car makes, its what ppl refer to as turbo flutter... its actually the noise of the air going back thru the turbo in the opposite direction when off boost as the turbo stalls.
But the noise is brilliant!!!

russellgarwood4174 13 April 2011 05:22 PM

im liking the video sounds great, i guess im a 30 yr old chav too lol, i will put it on my shopping list! if the wife lets me!!!

Modifications 13 April 2011 05:33 PM

yea sounds even better on full boost in the car :-)

im 35 m8 lol going on 18:thumb:

subby 15 April 2011 06:15 PM

just bought an hks ssqv off ebay and am quite disappointed in it. sounds like a strangled budgie.

prodriverules 15 April 2011 06:29 PM

I've got a TIAL which is a subtle low tish noise[not chav] and below .5 bar boost gives the lovely chatter from the turbo given the poundage of the spring in the valve.
oh and it looks  as well

dont listen to all the dumpvalve haters, they were all chavs at one point!!!!! :D

lordharding 16 April 2011 07:30 AM

Don't fit one

Only the girls and chavs at Mcdonalds will think it's cool and you must be rich

The rest of the Subaru people will laugh at you

Also well documented on here about problems with them effecting performance and fueling
Do a search hundreds of posts on the subject over he last few years

Wooshh look at me

Duh
