Samsung UK: useless!

Just rang them, FINALLY got through to customer support, and asked if an LCD TV bought in the UK will work in France.

Their answer: no.:Suspiciou

I asked why not, "because it doesn't".:cuckoo:

And yet my lad has one that he took to Holland when he worked there, it worked fine.

Typical company: "cover your arse mode".

And what has happened to "Pan-European?"

Ah, but he's a dab hand at fitting hand rails one handed under very stressfull conditions - you ask him :D

Jeff - UK = PAL system and France = SECAM system. For broadcast analogue television youll struggle unless you have a dual standard set. For digital terrstrial telly, from a set-top box, itll work perfectly well.

The voltage is similar, as you already know.

They could have answered 'yes itll work but you cant watch telly on it...' :D

alcazar 21 March 2011 05:28 PM

It'll only be for digital, as by the time I get back again, they will have switched off the analogue, so I need a freeview box or a TV with freeview........which this one had.

Anyway, bollox to them, they have lost a sale, I'll buy a Brandt or a Thompson from Darty for less, delivered free..

I bet he had a good moan when he got in though :D

I did not! I was far too excited about the imminent arrival of bay Isaac.

Samsung UK: Excellent!

Fixed my old LCD TV even though it was 5 months out of warranty. It was the first time I had tried the HDMI port and found them dead.

An engineer was onsite 3 days later and swapped the main board over, sorted!
