hey guys little problem i done a full service on the impreza last nyt and now it miss's like buggery when its warm completly fine when cold but when upto temp it jumps n jerks about when u put your foot down on light thrittle its fine twice the rev counter just went down to 0 and then back up again which is a big odd i thought? no codes are coming up so im stuck please help

did you swap plugs? if so did you gap them correctly?

wouldnt that make it misfire all the time not just when warm?

something simple and easy to check to eliminate

also i did swap the plugs but it ran really bad then so i put the old ones back in and now i got this problem was never like it b4 which of course makes me think it must b spark related im takin all the plugs out now ina bit check them on the feeler gauge

Check all the leads/coil packs depending on the car. If you are running coil on the plugs you may have cracked one of them refitting them... i have done it myself. Need more info on the car mate...

its a v2 wrx import how can i check them for cracks?

Remove them one by one, then pull the rubber boot off the end that attaches to the plug and inspect the plastic for cracks. If you find any issues you'll need to replace them.

O joy theve all got cracks on them one of then has part of it broken of!! There not cheap either i understand??

Nope. Second hand your looking at about £70 for the lot. I have a V2 and was tired of spending money on coil packs so i converted my car to run on a V4 single pack and leads. Best mod ive done.

But the above will explain why your car is missing. What usually happens is they break when you remove them from the plug, or they twist when you tighten them up and crack.

At least you know the problem now.

If they really all have cracks then that's probably your problem, but post a picture if you can.

If they are ok, I had this once when a spark plug wasn't screwed in properly and it wasn't firing on that cylinder. Make sure all plugs are in properly and all the leads are clipping on the coilpacks as well, the clip that keeps them on can brake and then it comes loose.

yes v4 single coil is my way forward i think looking around for a guide somewhere to follow ive had them all out all av crack marks up them one is very bad indeed so ive regapped the new plugs i bought to .70 and put them in and for a temp fix ive used some high temp silicone around the coil pack and around the top of the rubber to try stop any arcin just taken it for a blast up the road seems to be holding well so im gona go for the single pack converion n do away with these multi packs on the end of the plug. cheers for u help guys....ive only had the car 2 weeks my first ever scoob ive done nothing but fix the guy who had it b4's **** ups.
it gives me chance to learn my way round the boxer engine and its workings tho

top job mate cheers for that definatly on my list of things to do like the next thing to do lol....along with a better turbo to middle cention exhaust as the one on there is like 5inch!! wtf u cant seal it to the center section at all theres no gaskit to do the job guy was clearly a numpyy

Too many subarus these days are falling into the hands of the 'bodge brigade'. I had to put a few things right on my car aswell. Good luck mate.

If you're new to subarus here are a couple of imporant tips which you may already be aware of, bit if not you don't want to learn the hard way:

Fuel: buy the best petrol you can get. ie V-Power or tesco99. 97 Super unleaded is not recommended and normal 'premium' unleaded at 95 is asking for trouble. Don't use BP ultimate it's ultimate ripoff and has been known to cause damage.

Oil change: If you change the oil and filter yourself, be sure to pre-fill the filter with oil before you fit it (it takes a while to seep in so be patient), and many recommend disconnecting the crank sensor and turning the engine over a few times before running the engine to ensure oil is distributed around the engine properly.

In fact I would strongly recommend you do all oil changes yourself unless you use a garage who you KNOW are familiar with this procedure.

yes it would seem so mines not looking its best at the mo with its wrong shade of silver front bumper :( and terrible wheels but a respray an nice set of them will follow soon enough...wana get it all running right and get it mechanicly together 1st then appreance :)

yes i done the oil service myself but i didnt fill the filter first tbh with u next time i know tho as ive never done that b4 in the garage i work at? i had to change the oil cus the guy b4 said he used 10/40 ok i thought he then said semi synthectic AHHHHHHHHH its no on 10w60 mobile one fully synethic

why is 97 not recommended??

Because jap imports are designed to run on 100ron fuel. But imo, 97ron is ok... IF it is running std power. But i would always put the best fuel in you can. Mine is modified and i run on Esso Supreme 97ron, but my car has been mapped to run on it.

and yes dont touch 95 or bp ultimate.

theres nothing special around here unfortunatly so i been using the super unleaded 97 from texaco...i plan on gettin mine mapped with this esl live i hear off?

Yeah you will be ok with 97. That is the bare minimum i would use though. Maybe add some octane booster just to be extra safe. No need for an ESL until you have all the mods you want done together, then fit at once and map.
