Best modern phone for calls and text only?

Looking for a simple phone for calls and text.

Since I have had an iPad the iphone is never not needed so mrs chop has had that. All I want is a small simple phone.

Can't seem to see anything but there must be something out ther, as I can't be the only person who doesn't need apps/3g/Internet etc.

Any suggestions?

Chop

You could try something like the Samsung Solid range, or equivalents in other makes. Tougher and longer-lasting (some of them even waterproof), but without so many of the super high-tech features like on iPhone, Blackberry or whatever.

Cheers will have a look.

I was thinking of something similar to the classic nokia 6310 but new.

This is what I have. Not totally 'basic' but not iphone/blackberry league either. It's fairly cheap and imo, fairly smart too.

Loads of nokias that are good for this, the battery lasts for a week, simple fast, and often drop proof , you are also saved from people thinking that you are complete c*nt which is my my first thought whenever it becomes apparent that someone has an Iphone.

Smart phones are not the best for calls, those little cheap phones are ;)

Lots of basic Nokias that do just calls and texts

Amazes me the things you never knew you needed with mobiles now. They seem to mainly be aimed at children

Orange San Fransisco AKA ZTE Blade. £80. Even if you only use Google Maps, at least it calls, texts and is a sat nav, ;)

my wife has my old 6310 (on a £10 a month contract) - and everytime I look at it, it has 100% battery life and signal strength - and perfect voice clarity

the only downside is our childrens friends think she has brought the house phone out with her!!!!

as has been said the un touchscreen smartphone nokias are absolutley brilliant phones, we reccomend them every time someone comes in and asks for a phone that they only need to talk and text with as there really reliable and have great signal and battery. my favourite at the minute is the x2, comes with a 5mp camera and a sturdy finish and starts on PAYG for £59.95.

Hi Chop

what price do they go for on Ebay then?

also could look at the Nokia 1100 - we have a few has holiday phones, and they have a torch on them which is actually quite useful

Minimum £30/£40 some with a 30 day warranty, not sure how long they will last.

Just bought a brand new one for £30 delivered which is a good buy for one of these.

Old school :thumb:
