KNOCKING BC REAR SHOCKS ??

Hi, I had a set of BC Racing coilovers fitted about a year ago by a well known subaru specialist, I was told at the time by the fitter the knocking noise from the rear is normal and there is no way of stopping it.
I just wanted a second opinion really? Thanks:thumb:

The latest BC and Apex rear units have a rubber top mount, similar to the original Subaru strut. This has been quite effective in curing the noise.
Maybe talk to Apex as they may be available as retro-fit.

Thanks for reply John. So they are meant to knock. Seems strange they would design and manufacture a shock knowing its going to knock.
Might look into it more or might just put up with it, its not that bad really, it only knocks abit going slow on bumpy roads.

I thought they sorted this :(
Did the OE top mounts get used??

Im not sure what top mounts got used to be honest. Going by the noise im guessing the old style pillowball ones.

I would say if they were fitted a year ago, the parrallel springs and noisy topmounts where used. Purely because at this time the shocks were not being shipped with the new mounts and conical springs.

An easy way to check...
look into the rear wheel arch, are the springs parrallel or conical.

Just had a quick look, they look parrallel.

You have your answer then, if the noise is really annoying you get the replacement parts.
Must admit I lived with it for a while, got the new parts and the whole car is now much quiter with no loss of performance that I can judge.
