Impreza alarm

Hi all, My sigma alarm on my impreza doesnt make a beeping noise when arming/disarming, But it does make a noise when the alarm is triggered,Im just wondering if this is how it should be or if you can programme it to beep on arming.I don't know the model number at the mo but check it if needed, Cheers.

krisando 18 February 2011 09:23 PM

All i get on mine is the four flashes of the indicators, think thats the way it is.

Silverscoob72 18 February 2011 09:30 PM

Yep i get the four flashes as well, Didnt know if someone had messed with it tho.

kewe 18 February 2011 09:33 PM

I have read there is a way to activate certain 'options' using the keypad if you know your alarm pin code. Sounds a bit dangerous to play around with though.

In saying that I have previously done this on my VAG car using OBD.

BlueBridge Subaru 18 February 2011 09:35 PM

you can change it , they can be made beep , im sure someone will put you a link in a min to excess the hidden futures , you can do it with the subaru alarm tool .

I would quite like to have the lights and the beeps :norty:

jtonkins 19 February 2011 12:43 AM

when bought new you have a choice if you want the beep or not, mine didnt have it but had to have my alarm looked at and subaru turned the beep back on for me :)

Silverscoob72 19 February 2011 07:27 AM

Did subaru charge anything to do that for you?

kewe 19 February 2011 12:16 PM

So according to the document, to set the beeps to 'on', arm then disarm the car alarm system using your remote key,
then on the keypad type:-

* 17856 * 00 * 1 #

Now who want's to try this one out first :D

johned 19 February 2011 12:36 PM

Think it is illegal in the uk to have the beeps.

Think you're right, but what are the consequences?
Just plead ignorance and claim the car was like that when you bought it and if worst comes to worst set it back to off. I had it on my last car for about 2 years and no-one ever complained. Someone above has also quoted Subaru dealer offered to switch his beeps on lol.

Silverscoob72 19 February 2011 12:58 PM

Why is it illegal to have them turned on? Seems a bit strange when loads of other cars have alarms that beep when armed.

kewe 19 February 2011 01:05 PM

Thinks it's to do with anti social behaviour laws or the likes. Cars beeping at 5am in the morning or late at night can annoy the neighbours :Whatever_

Silverscoob72 19 February 2011 01:26 PM

True, But people on my estate make enough noise and wake me up so i wouldn't be too fussed about a little beeping noise coming from my car. i think i might get a louder exhaust on as well just to keep up the noise level.:thumb:

johned 19 February 2011 02:12 PM

Sadly the law is the law and if you got an awkward police officer they might report you instead of giving a warning,it`s your choice but why look for trouble?.All covered by "The noise and nuisance act1993".

alarm

so what if your car as a tracker and you dont know your car has been stolen because your lights are only flashing and no sound of alarm being activated me thinking all the bleeps and sound of alarm are linked SO BEING TURNED OFF :wonder::wonder::wonder:surely that doesnt help anybody

95turbowagon 19 February 2011 03:49 PM

If you look at option 6 & 7 shows you how to turn beeps on and off.

its a little worrying to see that there could be laws with referance to the beeps .. my alarm has always beeped

not shore if it will cost anything as my alarm was playing up and they said something about putting the beeps back on so when i went back to them to get it fixed i remember them saying this and asked them to put them back on whilst fixing it as for being illegal i wouldnt of thought so otherwise they wouldnt of put them back on!!

Silverscoob72 19 February 2011 09:51 PM

Thats what i was thinking,If it was illegal then they shouldnt have been able to be activated.:wonder:

I think some of you are getting mixed up with the chirp/lights flash when you arm the alarm ( chirp usually switched off to comply with CAT 1, I believe.) and beeps/lights flash when the alarm has been activated. :thumb:

jtonkins 19 February 2011 11:24 PM

yeah it flashes once and beeps once when you unlock the car and flashes twice and beeps twice when you lock it!!!

kewe 20 February 2011 04:14 PM

Yeah got mines flashing and beeping now too, works a treat :thumb:

Tomwrx 20 February 2011 05:24 PM

ive had it on mine for the past yr,

also had the auto lock option on so when u got to 5mph it dead locks the doors.and can only be opened by the master switch on the drivers door or by the key fob.

perfect for the mrs driving around at night just incase someone takes to much of a fancy for the car lol,

Silverscoob72 20 February 2011 05:26 PM

did it work first go, Im a bit worried that i might cock it all up:wonder:

I did that for the same reason. But its not 5mph, as as soon as the ignition is on. I have an MY00.
