Oil catch can -3 port/baffled, where from

Does anyone know who sells a 3 port catch can, with return to sump & with baffled or chambered internals?

IIRC Roger Clarke do one, not sure if its baffled, but it costs an arm & a leg!

Clives cans are not baffled, but he does do a return to sump.

JonMc 16 February 2011 08:55 PM

Clives is a good piece of kit for the price. You could go for the simple install of fitting the 3 breather hoses to the crank and cam breathers and fit a breather filter to the outlet. You could then just drain as required rather than feed back to the sump.

Must admit I am tempted to go down this route and sell off my 2 port one.

Other options are...

John: Speaking to Richard today, he thinks its better to do it properly & get a baffled, 3 port one with return to sump.

Voila...

Might be the best one as price on Mocom website says £220 fitted, for part only it should be a bit cheaper.

Can also be used as return to sump. Mines spot on. Just a bit on the tight side to get to the drain plug!

rickya 18 February 2011 07:19 PM

This looks interesting for £55, not sure if its baffled as I couldn't get hold of them on the phone today. Doesn't their seem to be too many ports on it & 2litres is pretty big !?

The design looks all wrong, you need 2 inlets for the head breathers and one for the crank breather, and then an outlet that runs either to the sump or VTA. The 2 on the side will be for a sight glass, and one of the lower ones will be a drain. I expect that you will either use the other lower one for the return to sump, or one of the 2 larger top ones for venting depending upon how you fit it and bung the rest:wonder:

I think I may just say sod the baffles & get Mad Hammers group buy one for approx £75

Only thing I picked up on Clives catch can was on a Newage one of the take offs is larger than the other's. Clives can has all three the same size

DannyBoy007 19 February 2011 08:50 AM

I got mine from API, they do an Extra large (4 times the size of the HDI one on there before it's about 1.5 liters) that they have made by an ex pro-drive employee how did alot of the alloy fabricating for the rally cars. it's baffeled, with a sump return, also has larger inlet pipes.

It's fit and forget

Think it was around £150+Vat

give david a call

Greersport Racing are working on a 2 ltr baffled 3 inlet, 1 inlet 20mm and 2 inlet 18mm 1 outlet 25mm with return to sump. Finished in either Crinkle Red or Black With Samco hoses. I will get a picture up as soon as its finished.

rickya 02 March 2011 11:27 AM

Ok what about this one: Its 3 port, baffled, with drain/retun to sump, but all inlets are 10mm (should it not be 12mm for newage?) & breather is 10mm also (shouldn't that be a much larger diameter?)

Any advice appreciated :)

Its no good fella, the breather is way to small, and your right the in lets needs to be 12mm.

rickya 04 March 2011 12:33 PM

Got it today: https://i.ebayimg.com/00/$(KGrHqF,!h...5VyfQ~~_35.JPG
Inlets are ok at 10mm & internals are properly chambered/baffled; bung/return is good fitment. Only issue is breather is only 10mm, might be ok will have to see :( Will fit it & give it a go but at some stage will try & alter design to make approx 20mm outlet. Not bad though for £66.

Pity its for VW, but this is what I call a Catch Can!!
