Facelift, arese lift, t*t job, Sydney Herald, Norma King, where are yo all from?????

Buy a car, a washing machine a big house with 5 bedrooms and patio heater for all I care!!!

Buy the car you want now, do what you want with it, drive it, wash it, take it up McDonalds and spin the wheels until the tyres burst (Can you do that in a Impreza??), but just buy it if you can afford it and enjoy it.

If you want the latest pose machine may I suggest a job in the city and the latest handheld w%nky computer anf a hugo boss suit.

PS I am a bit drunk!!!!!!

I was in this position a couple of months back. Had my MY00 exactly the way I wanted then started reading up on the STI, got more interested and finally hooked. Its simply awesome, so was the classic MY00, but the future is here guys, embrace it. An earlier post said it all - "The futures bright , the future is STI.
Picking mine up on Thursday and driving back to Bonnie Scotland on Friday after the obligitory stop off at ScoobyMania for 3 hours.

Subaru Puts On The Style

Style is set to become top priority at Subaru. The company is starting work on a secret new coupé inspired by its classic SVX... and designed by the man who penned the Alfa Romeo 147.

Powered by an evolution of the six-cylinder 3.0-litre boxer engine that made its debut in the Legacy Outback, the new car is expected to provide an alluring combination of design and technology when it goes on sale in two years' time.

Delivering at least 250bhp, the newcomer will be jointly developed by Subaru and the company's tuning department, STi. The car will offer all-wheel drive as well as a five-speed automatic gearbox to complement its luxurious character. To ensure the coupé's looks appeal to European tastes, Subaru employed Greek designer Andreas Zapatinas, who has styled some of the world's most desirable cars, including the Alfa 147. Insiders suggest Subaru decided to use a European designer after it came in for criticism about the bug-eyed appearance of its Impreza WRX.

Ha, well this throws a spanner in the facelift works, everyone assumes the new guy is for an impreza re-design and it looks like that may not be the case, best replace your order lads.

Mmmm.... STI-tuned coupe with 3 litre engine... with an automatic gearbox?! What are they thinking?!

Of course, there could always be a version with the Impreza STI's 6-speed manual - that could be fun.

yep i cancelled my order and the dealer was no problem he returned my money no problem

the thing is when i got my my00 it was my first proper car and it amazed me and it still does so when i test drove the sti it didn`t give me the same amazing feel as when i got my myoo obviously becouse i am now used to high performance cars

so i decided i wouldn`t just change my car becouse i needed a new one i will change it when i am fed up with my current one and i probably will still get the sti allthough with a ppp

oh and the people who think i am anti sti dont get on my case i am just putting my opinion on here

Stevie 16 April 2002 08:50 AM

Just flicked through the thread briefly.

Are all the people trying to justify not buying a car also on the bloody big house forum explaining why they are not buying that as well?

I dont care what you are not going to do. I have an STi7 outside the office now, it is far better than any previous Subaru I have owned, will be PPP'd as soon as possible and I think looks great.

Today, I will not buy myself a Ferrari because it is red, a boat in case it sinks....................

:)

AndyC_772 16 April 2002 09:14 AM

Stevie: today I won't buy a Ferrari because they cost more than my house, and I can't afford one :)

That said, I might be more inclined to shell out for an STI if they looked more like this:

Live now not later

Stevie 16 April 2002 05:56 PM

Hawkeye,

Why the wait (serious question). A mate at Listers brought the demonstrator home for me to try a month or so ago and I phoned the next day to have the Blue/Black example in the showroom.

I did not realise there was a wait. But trust me, it will be worth it.

Blue 16 April 2002 06:15 PM

When the MY01 came alone was anyone going to buy it ??? But now look how many there are. The old shape was changed slightly 4 times in its 7 year life, the MY00 looking OK in the end ! Why should the new shape be any different.
After driving the STi and getting back in my (260bhp) MY00 I know which one I'd rather have on the drive - thats evolution and technology - go with it.

AndyC_772 17 April 2002 08:29 AM

Picture's working now :)

Just curious: of those of you who've traded in a previous Impreza for an STI, how often do you usually change your cars? Do you tend to get bored after a year or two and change anyway, or has the STI made you sell a car that you'd ordinarily have kept for longer?

A.

Dave T-S 17 April 2002 08:51 AM

I'd better not answer that - will distort the statistics:D

mrdeli 17 April 2002 09:53 AM

When my Sti arrives I will have had my turbo for 2 1/2 years.

Dave TS changes his about every 2 mins by all accounts... he seems fond of Subarus, and Subaru seem fond of him. He props up their sales so well they even denoted a model to him... Impreza TS

Dave T-S 17 April 2002 10:49 AM

:D

KenG 17 April 2002 10:42 PM

Andy, I change cars every 2 years. Mainly becuase I manage to put aroung 50K miles on the beast in that period. The STI is my third Scooby and is up to 6K in 10 weeks (MY98 wagon and MY00 fully Prodrive'd previous).

Don't judge the performance until you have at least 4K on it, because it took mine that long to really let loose the beast under the bonnet. I believe a lot of the comments about performance coming from those who say they have had a 'disappointing' test drive are as a result of the engine being nowhere near run in.

Ken
