Fuel and my UK STi?

Hi,

Bought my MY04 UK STi (standard) today, and have a few questions on the fuelling.

Are these engines designed for uk standard fuel? Ie 95 octane? I know the imports have to have 97 and above or they die eventually. Will I ruin my engine if I put 95 in for everyday use and the odd blip on the throttle. Obviously for a day when I will drive her hard only the best 98/99 fuel will do!

Can someone give me the facts on this?

Thanks

They will take 95 but run like a bag of shte , so ive heard :D

ive only run mine on Shell optimax or tesco momentum

do have some octane booster just incase i need to put bogostandard in mind :)

afaik for them to be UK cars they need to be able to use 95 octane though?

id expect at least 3 replys before i post this from people with alot more knowledge mind :D

Think my previous MY05 STi Type UK said 98 octane on the filler cap!

I wouldn't run it with anything less than SUL, prefer V Power.

actually come to think of it i think my manual says something similar heh
Hawkeye STI

So the engine is only designed for SUL and 95 wont do my engine any good?

V-POWER

BAD BOY V 07 February 2011 09:13 PM

majority of the time v-power mate, however when needed in a emergency i use tesco, sainsburys bp super unleaded, but best to stick to v-power!

TonyBurns 07 February 2011 09:15 PM

Minimum fuel for these cars is 97 Ron, do not use 95 Ron!

Tony:)

It's got it's own thread mate, look for 'help in norfolk' Or words to that effect, she is mint and gorgeous!

Mrfastbaz 07 February 2011 10:04 PM

v power and lots of it yum yum:D

GREGGYG 07 February 2011 10:36 PM

Do you not have an owners handbook? All sti's need super unleaded, ideally 99 octane which is either Tesco momentum or Shell v-power

Dan-NMF 07 February 2011 10:44 PM

I do but havnt had the chance to read it yet

thunder8 08 February 2011 08:17 AM

V power or tesco for me, have used sainburys's 97 with octane booster but still ran like **** and made it miss

Andy03STI 08 February 2011 10:11 AM

My 03 Sti says 98 minimum on filler cap.

Dan-NMF 08 February 2011 11:04 AM

Right then, 98 is what she wants so 98 she will get!

Don't put 95 in it, and if you really have to then I'd say keep off boost!

I ran my 2 classics on Shell SUL
I've ran my last 3 STI's on Sainsburys SUL
We don't have the luxury of Vpower etc over in N.Ireland

Dan-NMF 08 February 2011 02:04 PM

Filled her up with v power and it's lovely! These things are actually quite good on fuel! I had to put 95 in it to get it home (no other pumps) it drank that! 98 v power is being sipped even in warp drive!

Why didnt someone tell me scoobies were so good years ago!?

Proby521 08 February 2011 03:16 PM

Good on fuel? :D What did you have before?!?!?!

I wasn't aware there was a 98 ron fuel ;-)

Shell/Tesco - 99
BP/Esso - 97

Dan-NMF 08 February 2011 10:04 PM

Before I had a single turbo converted supra at 500 bhp which did about 9mpg lol

alan.g.01 08 February 2011 10:12 PM

shell v'power all day long, makes a differance, & if u use a low octane fuel try n.f race formula excellant stuff
