JGM Strikes Again.

Just wanted to say a big THANKYOU to Simon for the amazing work he has done mapping my car,it produced truly outstanding results today at the UKScoobies.com rolling road day at the scoobyclinic. So much so i was bombarding andy who was piloting the car on the rollers with questions to make sure everything was ok,we also had a chat with mapper pat herborn who was on site today, who was also amazed that the vf28 fitted to my car produced the figures it did.I`d also like to thank Kev and the lads at scoobyclinic on behalf of UKScoobies for looking after us with bacon butties and giving us a great day out.:thumb:

H4RDY-P1 30 January 2011 09:31 AM

440 injectors glen ??
Awesome power from that ickle blower that is,is that a tad low on lbft tho ?? or about right ??

Thanks to clinic and the boys, top day.

WhiteWagonMan 31 January 2011 12:54 PM

Yeah still 440`s with fuelab fpr pete, got some 550`s to go in but all my plans have been tipped upside down and back to front with this result mate, dont know what to do now.Torque is about par for the coarse for a vf28,the bhp certainly isnt and needs investigating further before i proceed with any planned future mods.

Cracking figures, I am running a VF28 on my MY99 UK and torque on mine was up at 320-330lb ft at 1.45 bar but only ran 297bhp.

Are you running a heat shield around the induction kit? I only ask as the intake temp is 40 degrees higher than the atmosphere temp :wonder:. You may find that this may skew the figures slightly. Might be worth checking.

Cheers
Andy

That big a difference will skew the results to some extent, big thread earlier in the year regarding some dude making 382bhp with a VF35 and that had a big difference between AT and IT......

Thats the one, it was, I beleive a 28 degree difference in temps which altered the results from 382 - 363.

Still cracking figures above though :thumb:

Hi Mate...No heatshield on the induction kit, heres a pic of the bay.:thumb:
http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c.../Photo1135.jpg

I need to get to the bottom of this as im canceling a booking with harvey for a new 18g and uppipe until i can find out why the car made the power it did.:wonder:

Mmmmmmm clean:notworthy.

In the 'other' thread the car ran 20bhp less iirc with a 28deg difference between AT and IT, so it might well have an effect of around 30 ish bhp on your car. On that thread (https://www.scoobynet.com/general-technical-10/854408-382-8bhp-from-a-vf35.html) there is alot of info about these temps that effect the readings. Much of the usefull advice was from Harvey himself so he might be able to help you get to the bottom of it and as you were getting stuff from him anyway.

Cheers
Andy

Hi,

glad you all had a good day it was a pleasure meeting some new faces. :thumb:

Just to clarify the VF28 on the "white wagon man" car, intake temps were 42 degrees due to under bonnet heat and no shielding around the cone filter, ambient was 2 degrees this made for a 1.008 compensation which equates to an increase of just 3 BHP :norty:

Looking at the graph it appears this particular VF28 may have a modified wheel fitted at some point, spool is slower than standard and power is higher than we would expect both point to a custom wheel. :D

Good day had by all.

see you soon,
cheers
Kev

BLIMEY if thats the case, then they are VERY impressive figures from a VF28 :notworthy:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy

When getting my VF28 I was under the impression from various tuners that it was only good for 320bhp-330bhp

So hats off :thumb:.

Congratulations Glen
Nearly did a three cheers for you yesterday when you rolled up at meet

Hi,

they are usually good for around 310 BHP to maybe 330 BHP on a good day, this is why I draw your attention to the possibility its had a custom wheel fitted at some point in its life. :thumb:

Its also a possibility that its just a good combination of bits where everything drops on just right, almost blueprinted, that or race gas. :D

The race gas bit is just a joke. :norty:

cheers
Kev

Thanks for the input Kev :thumb:,all this talk of ambient and intake temps is a bit out of my league when it comes to scoobys im affraid, and what your saying about the uprated wheel is exactly what pat herborn said when we approached him about the results,as luckily he was on site saturday also.;)

cheers
Glenn.
