JDM Sump Bung

Firstly, I'm new to ScoobyNet, so a big hello to everyone out there! Imported a Type R just under a year ago and haven't looked back since, absolutely amazing machine.

Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed a very slow oil leak coming from the sump bung - after closer inspection (and a trip to the local garage) it appears to be coming through the pressure/temp sensors. The car came with the optional Lamco gauges and modified sump bung to feed oil pressure and temperature back to them. The problem I've got is that my local dealership can't import "STi accessories" or provide me with a part number... Does anyone know the part number or a decent company that can import JDM parts?

Thanks! :)

For those of you who may stumble across this in the future, and are in the same boat as me, the part numbers are as follows:

Oil temperature sensor: H5010FC025
Oil temperature sensor cord: H5010FC026

Unfortunately, I have spoken to Subaru Japan through various contacts, all of which have told me these parts are no longer in production. :(

Your car is the Type R 1999?

Why not re-route the senders to the proper places: pressure sender just under the alternator in place of the OE switch, temperature sender in the unused, blanked off tappings above cylinder No3. You may need an adaptor for the latter.

Then fit a standard, or a magnetic sump plug and away you go.

The adaptor for No. 3 is about a fiver. :thumb:

Yes it's a 99 Type R. If I were to go down this route, does that mean ditching the Lamco gauges and going for something else - would like to keep the "factory" look as much as possible (although needs must!) ?

That's a lot cheaper than the figures being quoted for the Lamco sensors, pressure alone was around £125 - which turns out wasn't available anyway!

Mate, if the gauges are already fitted and still working, the sensors are there. So all you'd need to do would be to unscrew them, re-route the wiring, MAYBE extend the wiring, (solder and heat-shrink), and job's a good'un.

Little outside my expertise, but looks like it's time to learn something new!

where abouts are you from, there are plenty of people on here willing to help fellow members do tasks such as moving sensors around... fairly straight-forward job

Does seem like a very friendly community; I'm based near Southampton. Think i'll give it a go first - good way to learn something new (and hopefully not balls it up in the process!)

Lots of threads on here about fitting gauges, including senders. Search is your friend;)

If you can't find owt you need to know, just ask, someone will know.
