servicing/ cambelt??

when does the cambelt need changing on a 1994 classic ej20 engine?
and how often are the service intervals?

kevin wrx 17 January 2011 08:29 PM

once every 3 years or 30.000 miles if memory serves me right

Subaru recommend replacment 45,000 miles or 36 months whichever occurs first..

servicing every 6 months or 7000 miles according to autodata .....

ok thanks, also, if the engine is well looked after what sort of mileage can you get from it?

kevin wrx 18 January 2011 03:01 AM

as long as its not thrashed well into the 100,000 miles

Service intervals are 6 monthly or 7.5k miles, whichever is first.
Cambelt as stated is 3 years or 45k miles, whichever is first.
Engines as above will last as long as they are well maintained and not ragged rotten from cold.
You have not also said if your car is a WRX or a Turbo 2000?

Tony:)

its a wrx, the thing is ive recently bought a scooby but the build and history is looking like its been made up!! so im wondering weather to keep it or not, the oil looks like its had a recent change, and engine sounds fine, but ive got no history of it and its done around 105000 miles?

If it runs well, doesnt have any other problems, doesnt use oil and isnt tired then you may as well keep her ;)
Just remember that you can only use super unleaded in the JDM Imports (V power is top of the list)
