Fuel Blockade

http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/...450861&index=1 (refinery blockades set for 5th Feb)

Not sure how true this is but maybe the attention it gets might get the media onto it and worry the government a little

yorvik 15 January 2011 10:07 AM

Didn`t the last Government outlaw refinery blockades under some sort of anti-terrorism legislation?

andythejock01wrx 15 January 2011 10:13 AM

Yup I think it would be harder this time round, much as I'd like to pay less than £1.369/litre for V Power!:wall:

stef_2010 15 January 2011 10:18 AM

53 people so far

The government must be running about panaking as I type !

Because the British are (relatively) well mannered and reserved etc (apart from the chav set lol :D), it ****ing angers me to the hilt that successive govts 'take advantage' of our 'non-confrontational' stance, to get there own self-serving ways.

So, because of the populous behaving civilised, we're gradually having our civil liberties, and general quality of life, eroded... Because the govt can 'get away' with doing so.

How's that 'fair'?! <rant, mumble, groan, etc, etc>

The (not so)Great British Public are a govt's dream, in this respect.

Wurzel 15 January 2011 10:39 AM

Maybe you should import some Frenchman to do it for you :D

joz8968 15 January 2011 10:52 AM

Totally. :D

But this is it. You would have thought the govt would 'respect' and 'reward' their public for not being a baying mob and wanting to overthrow them at any opportunity. But they know we're all a bunch of simpering Ruperts (ultimately) and therefore screw us royally. As they know there'll be no 'whirlwind' to be reaped! AAAAAAAAAAAARHH!

joz8968 15 January 2011 11:04 AM

I'm sitting here at API having K-Sports fitted, ranting away on this thread like a nutcase. :D

If you have 53 people and the local papers involved with a fuel blockade it won't take much for it to go national.

53 arrested under terrorist laws

That would make a fine headline for any of the nationals. You get a criminal record - you go to an interview and are asked about your record - you were arrested for an act of terrorism for protesting against the cost of fuel. I would think a boss that holds that against you probably isn't the sort of boss you want to work for anyway.

Oh no it's up to 59! Hope i am not ment to be working on the 5th!

Adrian F 15 January 2011 03:55 PM

probably why they were so tough with the prison terms for the student rioters

zs_phil 15 January 2011 04:16 PM

And when the day or date comes no one will turn up as always
:freak3:

PaulC72 15 January 2011 05:41 PM

You are quite correct, but not under anti terrorism laws initially.

The introduced the legislation, following the successful blockading of the refinery's, by tanker drivers and protesters.

(remember this was the government who advocated peaceful protest ;))

once the refinery's were blocked, and they realised that by peaceful protest, the populous had achieved a victory, they then did the baby milk factory type spiel ;);) (do a google search for baby milk factory's in the gulf war :))

And decided it was then outlawed to block refinery's ( as hospitals could be effected).

I was thinking that - Rape a drunk girl - first offence, let off with a warning. Steal a car.... group hug. Armed robbery... at least 20 hours community service. Protest against the govt - at least 20 years as long as you didn't commit a crime while you were doing it

TurboAndy 16 January 2011 12:47 AM

I'm 100% behind them but I can't see it making any difference at all.

TurboAndy 16 January 2011 12:50 AM

Forgot to add, everyone will be panic buying so the government still make there money.
