That looks awesome! I couldn't believe how crap I was when I did the palmer-sports day, before it I was a driving god afterwards I was a complete driving lamer ;) was a fantastic experience though :)

davyboy 13 January 2011 07:09 PM

The JP1 was the best car I've ever driven, so this is going to be good.

TurboAndy 13 January 2011 07:24 PM

Dam that looks awsome.

ChrisB 14 January 2011 08:49 AM

I've driven the JP1 twice and it was utterly mind-blowing, so something

...faster in a straight line, has revised gear ratios, improved suspension and grip, more downforce and less drag to reduce wind resistance.
sounds, erm, not bad. Sign me up! :D

A Scoob would have it in the twisties though :D

Neanderthal 14 January 2011 09:50 AM

I hope the exhaust isn't too loud and they waste half a day testing it.

Yes I'm still bitter all these years on :lol1:

LOL, let it go!

How long ago was that? 8 years?

Can you find the thread?

Thats an awesome looking motor

Leslie 16 January 2011 12:02 PM

They all seem to fit the same mould, the performance looks good though.

Caterham might put into production their latest offering: a Radical-esque trackday toy.

Looks a bit like a SR4 and has a 305PS supercharged motor (345PS with its "push to pass" button engaged ). Weighs only 545kg, so rivals the Radical SR3 Turbo's stats... :)

How does a touted £60k grab yer, though. :p

Leslie 17 January 2011 12:13 PM

Too heavily!

Looks better than the old one, especially the seats, which allowed me to get thrown everywhere.

Brilliant day out!

stiscooby 17 January 2011 11:02 PM

Can individuals do these Palmer Sport days/half days or is it only for the corporate/group bookings?

How "experienced" would you say you have to be to go on one of these days??...... I have done racing before, karting, short oval and some other driving experiences (single seaters etc) but nothing like those things though (Have had a couple of scoobs too ;) ).

Plus it looks like they actually get you to drive quickly, if you know what I mean.

Trout 17 January 2011 11:34 PM

Anyone can book. And they will take bookings for one. Best if you can find friends to go with so you can 'compete'!!!

Talent is from complete novice. If you have a race license then need to get written permission to drive (you can but there is an insurance CYA to be attended to).

LOL, youve just gone up another notch in my estimations for spinning one of them Steven :lol1:

The instructors are ace (and slightly mad) - they'll look to get you going faster and faster. No poxy rev-limits or anything like some of the "experience" days. Drive like a complete tit and they'll bring you in but they don't mind you having fun - I spun the 911 three times the first time I went :thumb::rolleyes::D

The harness was crap in the car. I could get the shoulders tight enough, but not the hip belts, so consequently my ar5e was sliding all other the place, and didnt feel in enough control, which was proved when i spun it.

Single seater was mucho fun though :D

Awesome day!

Many thanks to Trout for the hospitality :)

Trout 18 January 2011 09:40 AM

At least he didn't break the gearbox!!!!

stiscooby 18 January 2011 01:26 PM

Thanks for the info. I don't have a race license any more so that should be no problem.

Think most of my mates are too tight to pay out for this, lol.

Nice to see they don't mind you driving "quick", well what you/I consider quick. Not like the general experience days where you have rev limits etc.

Trout 18 January 2011 10:26 PM

They actively encourage you to go balls out!

Trout 18 January 2011 10:27 PM

Me in the M3 last year!

TelBoy 18 January 2011 10:29 PM

Palmersport is fun for what its worth, but most people would learn a whole lot more spending a day in one car learning to drive it properly, in my opinion.

Trout 18 January 2011 10:31 PM

Do they? I would never have thought that!

TelBoy 18 January 2011 10:34 PM

Do they what? :Suspiciou
