NGK IRIDIUM IX SPARK PLUGS FOR SUBARU IMPREZA
|
2.5 hawks the same as the hatches i take it?
|
What heat range would you recommend for a version 4 type-r at 350 bhp and do they come gapped correctly, many thanks
|
What would you recommend for a 280bhp 350lbs/ft torque hawk 2.5 WRX?
Thanks |
As a very general rule of thumb, go 1 stage cooler than stock for every 50-100bhp increase. It requires some research though, no 2 engines are the same and many factors will determine performance and wear of the plug.
The plugs are pre-gapped. Iridium IX plugs shouldn't really be re-gapped. Hmm... can anyone tell me the stock part number of the 2008+ Hatch spark plugs? I'll see if they cross over to an IX plug from that... |
The plug listed for the 08 STI hatch is NGK SILFR6A.
Paul. |
Thanks, Paul!
This part number does cross over to the Iridium IX plugs which we stock in heat grade 7 (1 grade cooler). specs: 14mm, 26.5mm reach, 5/8 hex I'll update the thread above & website now. |

TX. http://www.jp4mance.co.uk/products/1/Subaru/_/2725/ I run 7's in my '53 STi (TSL333 tuned) and i can't fault them. Very smooth idle too. |
We're running low on the hawkeye plugs (Iridium IX) but more are due in stock Monday. Currently 5 sets available.

550hp hawkeye best plugs ?
|
Probably a cooler plug, heat range 8 possibly even a 9.
Are you in the process of building the engine or have you been running the car at 550bhp? If so, the current condition of the plugs will give you a clue. Too hot means not enough heat transfer to the cylinder head Too cold means the plug won't burn off carbon deposits efficiently More info: http://www.jp4mance.co.uk/gallery/4/35 |

Hi, it says out of stock for the NGK PFR7B:
http://www.jp4mance.co.uk/products/1/?related=1155 Are they available? How do I buy? |
As it says we're currently out of stock on that part number and it'll be early next week before the next shippment arrives. The iridium upgrades are a good alternative though, plenty of those in stock. Cheaper too ;)

Hi,
Please could you confirm if the 2006 wrx 2.5L Hawkeye plugs are ILFR7H part number? This is the part number I have been told to use for the uprated heat 7 plug for my 340bhp wrx. p.s. The link at the top of this post no longer works. Ta. |
