Classic Injectors

Just had a heart stop moment... I have a 93 classic, what type of injectors are fitted to these as standard?

I have just got some 550cc top feed injectors (STI Pink) - Well i assume they are top feed.... Are these a straight swap?

prodriverules 21 December 2010 09:31 PM

No you have version 1 side feed on your's,the later newage have top feed mate

Jamz_ 21 December 2010 09:40 PM

Is it possible to convert?

prodriverules 21 December 2010 09:43 PM

wimpy 21 December 2010 09:44 PM

with a lot of work. but better off getting the correct ones as its all money on top of the fuel pump you will need and a full remap.

I wouldn't worry i brought some gold billet fuel rails to go with my goodridge hoses for parallel conversion only to find there ver 5/6 not 3/4:brickwall
So i had to buy some billet fuel rail ends to convert my existing rails:lol1:

Jamz_ 21 December 2010 10:29 PM

Well there's me £140 lighter :(

Jamz_ 21 December 2010 10:37 PM

Just hope i can get away with the standard fuel rail... i cant afford a new parallel one :O

prodriverules 21 December 2010 10:40 PM

That kit should be all you need mate,my rail ends and hoses/fuellab reg have cost me dear i know that:eek:

carl.woolford 21 December 2010 10:42 PM

Aye thats what the kit posted above is for... you get new bits to put into the manifold at the bottom, and an adapter to mount the fuel rails above the injectors.

This is the kit:

Just though, how will my standard side feed fuel rails fit the top feed injectors? Wont I need new age fuel rails (top feed)?????

joz8968 27 December 2010 08:28 PM

It looks like CD now does the full kit - inc billet top feed rails! - here, for all Classic MYs:-

http://www.carldavey.co.uk/diary.php?id=72

If so, get that - or have you already brought that £140 top-feed inj. adaptor kit?! :( If you have, then you do need to get hold of a set of OEM 2nd hand top feed rails from a New Age... Or spend out on CD's own billet ones, here:-

http://www.carldavey.co.uk/diary.php?id=72

joz8968 27 December 2010 08:30 PM

Man, by buying top feed injectors, you've unwittingly heaped a whole world of extra expense and hassle upon yourself :(

If only you had bought the correct sidefeed jobs in the first place...............

Tell me about it, although I'm still better off so far with what ive got, as 550cc side injectors are 550 quid +... so far only spent £220 on injectors and the conversion kit so far....

Just need the fuel rails (actually pricing up parallel rails and fpr - gonna start crying in a min ) - Why cant this have been easy... seems I have opened a can of worms getting the bits ready for remap :(

The CD fuel rails are a bit expensive though http://www.carldavey.co.uk/product.php?id=13 - Think I'll be able to source some cheaper ones? They're only a bit of hollow metal lol

Still need to get myself a walbro fuel pump

joz8968 27 December 2010 08:42 PM

Yeah, MUST get the 255 too.

Jamz_ 27 December 2010 08:48 PM

Joz what you reckon to these
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/IMPREZA-WRX-ST...item563c552edc

dabow 27 December 2010 08:51 PM

just read the thread
but dont really say why your just changing the injectors
as changing these will need some sort of mapping, or you will be over fueling the car?

joz8968 27 December 2010 08:53 PM

They'll prob work. But iget nervous re. the all important sealing O-rings on aftermarket fuel stuff.

I'd personally play safe and get a set of 2nd hand OEM top feed rails (and save cash in the process) -- it's not as if those billet ones offer a performance enhancement; just look pretty.

You got any laying around from your mass parts clear out?

joz8968 27 December 2010 08:56 PM

Or try API David - he does a pre-fabbed parallel set-up for side feeds, comprising braided hoses and -AN Earls fittings... So I'm sure he does an equivalent kit for top feeds. Then you can just utilise that TF adpator kit from CD to make the whole caboodle fit your MY93's IM. :)

You'd also need a 3-port FPR ike a Fuelab too...
