Chaos is just going to start if you are ordering stuff on line!

Looks like chaos is just starting to break out in the online shopping world, nearly all couriers are suspending deliveries to Scotland and major backlogs in the North of England means that the depots in those areas are not accepting any parcels.

Royal Mail is going to get a sudden rush of parcels in to there network over the next 24 hours which I am sure they wont be able to cope with...

sorry folks christmas is cancelled!

If we end up getting even one or two more snow flakes

Lady Luck 09 December 2010 11:06 AM

I've already got a list of stuff ive been waiting on from since before the snow, that's my christmas ****ed then :lol1:

Bless my post lady, she did make sunday deliveries last week for parcels she couldn't carry during the week

f1_fan 09 December 2010 11:07 AM

It's pathetic and the only funny thing is the government squirming after telling us it wouldn't be this way under their watch.

The country has ground to a halt not because of sevre weather, but because of successive governments and councils stikcing their heads in the sand and pretending this could never happen.

Lady Luck 09 December 2010 11:16 AM

Has this been on the news anywhere, or is it just the rumour mill causing a furore?

What depots are not accepting parcels? I know my other half's work is, and they are all being made to work Saturday (I'm not sure about Sunday, as some drivers worked Sunday gone, but that was optional) to try and clear the backlog. His depot has been open all through this weather and all drivers have been kept on the road. There is only a backlog because they haven't been able to get as many drops done per day due to the road conditions.

We've had no post all this week, which I find strange as they managed to get out at the weekend, and we've had no snow since then.

Puff The Magic Wagon! 09 December 2010 11:31 AM

Our overnight carriers have had some problems delivering to Scotland & esp Highlands but deliveries are now getting through. Old news I'm afraid but that might change if it snows again next week.

kingofturds 09 December 2010 11:35 AM

I sent a parcel 3 weeks ago that never turned up, I ended up having to give the customer his money back. Guess I will have to go through the royal mails compensation merry go round.

The country has ground to a halt not because of sevre weather, but because of successive governments and councils signing up to the lunatic global warming agenda and assuring us this could never happen.

I work in online retail and speak to all courier drivers daily, so this is all current

Parcelforce have suspended all new parcel deliveries to Scotland (except part of Inverness) you can not even enter a new parcel on to the system as they are trying to clear the backlog .

HDNL suspended new parcels for Scotland, Hull, gatwick and a few others

2 to 3 day backlog with nearly every courier.

Did you see the meteorological office scientist on the BBC last week earnestly telling us that some global cooling is to be expected as part of global warming and climate change :cuckoo:

How thick do they think we are? :D

ScoobyWon't 09 December 2010 01:53 PM

I was sent a new mobile on November 26th - DHL delivered it yesterday.

the reason why they are probably having problems is the same as our very very small operation, most couriers HDNL/Parcelforce etc will not collect from us any parcels that have Scottish postcodes or for some postcodes in north of england. We currently have scottish parcels stacked everywhere because no one will collect them, i would imagine amazon are having the same problem.

skoobidude 14 December 2010 10:18 PM

I too ordered a gift from Amazon on Sat and received it today. Standard delivery too :)

Jamie 15 December 2010 09:48 AM

Are they arriving to said hotel ?

stilover 15 December 2010 10:29 AM

Santa doesn't use Royal mail, he has a magic sledge pulled by Reindeer. One of which has a big shiny red nose.

I take comfort in knowing Santa will deliver all my presents on Christmas morning. I'll leave Cookies out with a glass of milk with some carrots for the Reindeer as a little thankyou.
