DCCD into non-DCCD classic
Hey all,
as the title suggests, is it possible to put DCCD into a non-DCCD? I have a MY95 wrx, and was wondering if it is possibe? What is needed? and is it straight forward? Has many people done this before? |
Enginetuner did one for me. I used dccd clocks, type r diff, shafts & hubs, dccd control unit & dccd wheel. Unless you have a donor vehicle this little lot will mount up £££

you can just use the rear end of a dccd box and get it bias to the rear all the time as in the wheel will be in the fully back position,,,,, which is where im sure most people keep it anyway

Smokingkills, was it worth it??

My conversion was for other reason- I bought a type R & all the goodies from my 4 door was transplanted into the Type R, which included a 6 spd box. I recently sold the 4 door with DCCD fitted, it added no extra value to the sale unfortunately. But it made someone else very happy. The story is in this months Total Impreza mag. |

It really does depend on what you want it for. Normal road use as ginge says is left in the unlock position with bias to the rear, no real point using any other setting. I never got to use it on loose gravel or snow which is where the DCCD will shine.

Don't forget to change the rear diff as well. A non DCCD gearbox has a 1:1,1 dropgear. Front diff on a normal wrx is 3.900 and rear diff is 3.9/1,1=3.545. With DCCD fitted the rear diff should have the same ratio as the front diff because DCCD has a 1:1 dropgear. |
