Jamie 15 November 2010 08:21 PM

Care to explain oh wise one bio:wonder:

bioforger 15 November 2010 08:27 PM

Explain what? You either know what I mean or you don't. Must be me then.

I've just noticed in the last month or so amongst colleagues, friends and on tv, certain words ending in or have in the middle k or ick are over emphasised. "Like" being the worst offender. Or "bad luck" is now bad lucK etc

Jamie 15 November 2010 09:31 PM

Still none wiser:( are you trying to say Emphasise the significance of context and meaning K?

Will 15 November 2010 09:34 PM

No! People who do this don't have the intelligence to even think of that.

It's just emphasising the sound of the feckin word(s), with a "click" to the end of the word with a k in it or at the end of it. I giveup close the thread :)

Jamie 15 November 2010 09:43 PM

Well i should not worry so much about it:) if it does seek help :D

bioforger 15 November 2010 09:44 PM

I'm only ever going to explain it with an example, here 6:40 in where he says Vick,

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...rs_15_11_2010/

disclaimer, I dont watch eastenders, was just on in the bground and annoyed me again lol

ScoobySteve69 15 November 2010 09:45 PM

bioforger 15 November 2010 09:45 PM

bioforger 15 November 2010 09:47 PM

I thought it must be an `issue` according to where you do or don`t live cos no one else has a clue what you`re on about!!!

bioforger 15 November 2010 10:01 PM

It's where I work, putting your actual location anywhere on the net isn't a good idea.

lol this seems to be the case i'll get my coat :(

David Lock 15 November 2010 10:05 PM

I'll give the OP a break.. I know what you mean mate. One or two guys at my work have been talking like this for a while. Usually when the "k" is in the last word of a sentence..

Not quite as bad as those who, like... err... so randomly, like... talk up at the end of each sentence.

A real Samite Sam moment for me!

Where have you seen that happening? Sounds like some "smart kid" trying to start up a new style. Just like the prats trying to invent new officespeak!

Why do teenage girls continually say " oh my god!" and it was "like", you know "like".
That seems to be the extent of there vocabulary

It's just your hearing going. You just miss hearing certain syllables. In the example you mention above what they really said is " ... bad luck c u n t ...". You just didn't hear the 'ck' from 'luck' or the 'u n t' from the last word .... HTH ... :thumb:

+1.... I was like totally, and he was yea like oh my god! :( :(...... I thought the OP was about people putting "k" on the end of words ending in "ing" like supernanny saying "everyfink" or "nuffink" think I caught Gordon Ramsay doing it as well.
