It's your car mate, you do as you please.

What are you looking for??

sti345 12 November 2010 12:00 PM

i was told mines chip runs with 100ron and not to use the headers i got on? is this right.

bigsinky 12 November 2010 12:20 PM

mines is a jap ecu and tend to have rather agressive maps with lots of advance for 100ron fuel. have you been driving the car a long time like this? the importer might have sorted the ecu for uk SUL.

sti345 12 November 2010 01:48 PM

driving it for about 1 to 2 mths now with the new headers on, not sure on the importer as its been over here for a while. dont know what to do!!! because with the new headers i cant fit the o2 sensor as it fouls on the block might take them off and go back to olds for now till i know what i want to do. any help with mods will be great.

Glowplug 12 November 2010 05:22 PM

Are you saying that, you are running with NO lambda??

sti345 12 November 2010 06:22 PM

yes i am...running without one....:( just let me down gentle what have i been doing running without one?

For starters your fuelling will be all over the shop, ie if you are running lean:nono: the lambda tells the ECU to up the fuel and visa versa. Otherwise the ECU will pull the timing and the car will be down on performance, it will also drink v-power like it's free.

I advise you get the lambda refitted ASAP, have you not got a boss in the downpipe you can fit it in? Remove the COF sensor in the downpipe and fit the lambda in there if nessisary. Or replace the headers with OE as you said earlier. Either way, you will need it fitting for a MOT emission pass.

SCOOBYLADVA 15 November 2010 11:32 AM

u will need this fitted for it to pass the MOT on the emissions.

sti345 15 November 2010 11:44 AM

the machine was broken on the day...lol

sti345 16 November 2010 03:32 PM

can i fit this in as long as mine has the 4 block on the ecu? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

You could do, but the Z4 is a better choice:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUBARU-Z4-ECU-...item20b52415f3

W6 - 1993 WRX RA – TDO5- 11.47PSI (0.8BAR) -FUELCUT 14.5PSI (1BAR) - 240PS (237BHP)

Z4 - 1995/1996 WRX –(0.9BAR), DROPPING TO 11.7PSI (0.8BAR) @ 6600RPM
- FUEL CUT 15.65PSI (1.08BAR) - 260PS (256 BHP) – 7250RPM

Either way you will need to run V-Power.:thumb:

sti345 16 November 2010 11:25 PM

Hi mate, this is what i have in mine already i just need to stop it juddering over 0.5..reset the ecu and it goes like a train, but then the c/e comes on and down it goes....http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/o...9092010294.jpg

Well thats because you have a fault. No lambda for one. The ECU (which ever OE one you fit) will be trying its hardest to prevent you killing your engine!

Get the lambda refitted and see what happens.

sti345 17 November 2010 11:48 AM

lambda fault does not show.....22/24/33 where is the vss2 ive had a look but cant seem to find it, there is nothing on the speedo cable wire wise anyway any ideas.

The lambda will effect the running and performance.

22 is knock sensor, replace it.

24 is iacs
33 is vss2

These two can be related. Sort the vss2 first, i'm 99% sure it's the speedo end, as opposed to the gearbox end. This can cause the ECU to think the iacs is not operating properly.

sti345 17 November 2010 12:54 PM

nice one mate, iam going back to my old headers for now untill i get a new hole done for the sensor on the up pipe of the equal length ones. i will keep you updated.thanks

sti345 17 November 2010 01:09 PM

GC8C48D any info on this model? is this right that its the 260bhp one?

There should be a boss in the up-pipe, your lambda will be fine in there.

sti345 18 November 2010 04:05 PM

The boss is on the bottom pipe just where it joins the up pipe. job for tonight.

Now i'm confused.

Was you looking at a different location before?? As it is not possible for the lambda to foul on the block when installed in the header.

sti345 18 November 2010 09:20 PM

sorry...on my new headers and down pipe the lambda sensor fouls on the block.on my old headers and up pipe the lambda is on the bottom pipe which is fine.

sti345 21 November 2010 10:21 PM

hi, old headers are back on and i like the sound of the rumble, anyway lambda is back on reset the ecu 5 mile down the road the c/e light come back on same 3 faults 22/24/33....but it is going over .5 without the juddering so at least that has gone. has anyone got a spare knock sensor i can try? and what can i do about the iacv can i clean it or is it a new one....vss2 have not got a clue about that one yet need to find the wiring path from the ecu.

Glowplug 21 November 2010 10:39 PM

I repeat.

You can get a used KS, in the 'For Sale' on here or Ebay, make sure you get the right one for your MY(Subaru Part No: 22060AA030 22060AA031) . A faulty KS will cause the ECU to pull the timing and reduce performance.

VSS2 will probably mean removing the binnicle and checking the cable and the connections behind.

Leave the IACS till last as that may be being caused by the VSS2.;)

Come on, pull your finger out and stop fcuking about.:lol1:

edit: This one looks ok.

sti345 21 November 2010 10:56 PM

will do mate.......

hi, right changed the knock sensor and reset the ecu all good for about 4/5 miles then the cel came back on and have the same 3 codes....so i might take out the cel blub.....only joking.as for the vss2 my clocks are cable driven what else can i look for on this fault. thanks

Was it a new KS or a used one??

Did you follow the correct reset procedure??

Change the
IACS now, as i said earlier, this will cause a VSS due to the IACS not telling the ECU the car is at idle. So the ECU is expecting a signal from the VSS but because you are at idle it doesn't get one and therefor thinks the VSS is at fault.

sti345 09 December 2010 11:25 PM

what do i clean in this IACV.........http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/o...9122010421.jpg thanks

Glowplug 09 December 2010 11:39 PM

Just drown it in carb cleaner or petrol and watch the sh1te pour out.;)
A small brush is also handy.
