If the assignment is already paid, nothing. Otherwise it's £80 IIRC, £105 to retain inc reassignment with 1 year retention fee. :)

If it's a simple swap over with no retention involved they can reissue TAX and MOT in the new reg on the premises. So as soon as you have the tax disc and of course you've informed the insurance, you can swap plates :) For mine, because I was assigning and retaining I had to wait for them to do the transfer and send the new documents by post. Your new V5 will follow in the post but you don't need that to put the plates on the car :)

Yep just take all the docs they list on the V778 retention certificate, really simple and quick :)

If your name isn't on the certificate as the grantee, make sure the grantee has signed it.

do i fill Section 1 in?

and all i need is the owner before to sign Section 6?

53 10 November 2010 08:06 PM

Just section 1 mate IIRC. :) tbh they pretty much instruct you no messin when you get there lol :D I think once it's on your car under your V5 you become the owner anyway. I have always owned the plate on retention so it's slightly different if its a plate you have bought from a private owner as the existing grantee.

Darc174 10 November 2010 08:33 PM

Blimey this is not Simple as it seems haha!

he has signed once for sections 3,4,5

but not Section 1 hope thats right lol

if im reading it correct, he has signed for me to fill in the section to be the grantee :wonder: dunno lol
