Newbie signing in!

evening all, ive been brousing here for a few months since buying my first scoob (a mint UK classic) so thought id better finally sign up.
so first a bit about me, im 28, married with two kids and live near pontypridd. In my spare time i build / service rally cars with my father in law and i do a bit of co-driving with him on tarmac rallys. Ive mainly been in to my vauxhalls since i started driving 10 years ago (still own a Mk3 astra gsi track car and am a moderator on a small vauxhall website some might know - Migweb) but after always fancying a subaru, a few months ago i took the plunge and bought my first. its a near standard, mint Uk turbo which was a two owners from new and well looked after (previous owner kept recipets for every single thing he bought from gen subaru oil filters, to the tyres that he fitted!).is got the 4 pot front brakes, braided lines, face lifted crystal front end and a stainless back box and performance panel filter.

Welcome matey :thumb: nice clean looking classic you have there :) it won't be 'near standard' for long, you have to watch out for these guys, they'll sel you anything from a roof vent right up to a fully forged 2.1 Stroker engine ;)

There's a meet on Wednesday evening at Cariff Gate, pop along to say hello if you can :)

cheers for the welcome guys, im trying my best not to start "modding" it, its even still got the standard subaru tape deck and multichanger in the boot.

if im not too busy, i'll try pop along to it.

I know a man with a set of WRX Alloys who may sell them cheap to a local. He's now got his hands on a very nice set to use instead :D

Welcome Rob.

Hi Rob nice to see you left those awful vaux things. Lol. Last time we met I had organised a mag featured drive around south Wales. Total vauxhall do you remember?
Welcome

Dylan

Welcome to the fold. :)

At least now you have a proper car and not a Vauxhall. :D

I've owned over the years a MK2 Cavalier SR and a SRi 130 with an Irmscher kit, Vectra SRi 16v and an Astra H Sport Hatch 1.9 CDTi SRi and I have to be honest that the Vectra was without doubt the worst car I've ever owned, mind you the Astra was pretty pants as well. :(

Anyway welcome and try to make a SWS meet if you can.

of course i remember you fella, hows things? i see you've moved on a bit from shonky vauxs too! i havnt quite shaken them off yet, i still got the black astra i hammered that day and i still do give it stick on track days, far cheaper to blow that up or prang than the scoob :lol1:

oh and ive still got that copy of the mag somewhere, just for the pic showing me cable tying the front bumper up after catching it on them awesome roads you took us on!

the newer ones are **** tbh, i hate working on them. the mk3 astra i have now (and the three astra rallly cars my father in law owns) is about as new as i want to have. ive owned and driven newer but soon sold them on.

and i will try and make a SWS meet soon, wont be this week as im a bit pushed, but will make a bit more effort next time.
