MD321T
hi, i am going to put a MD321T on my 2.0 sti. i am looking for around 460 - 470 bhp and 400 ft/pounds of torque, basically a very rapid road car. i will be doing handling and braking mods but i want to know whether i can get that figure from a T with the following mods:
FMIC CAI BOSCH FUEL PUMP 650 CC INJECTORS OR BIGGER FULL 3 INCH DECAT GT SPEC HEADERS AND UP PIPE also would i need any other mods at this power level for example an oil cooler. i know this is a lot of power for a standard 2.0 sti, but so many are coping with T's and a few i have heard of with 522 and 540 bhp. Thanks |
You have to run high boost to make that figure on a 2.0 mine made 480bhp/450ftlb at 2bar on a forged eng with sti5 heads I would also recommend getting an uppipe from Harvey to go on the 3bolt headers as this will give you earlier spool and better torque.
At this figure the car is an animal :) |
Harvey up pipe 100% recomended. On standard internals your gonna have to run 10-20% Meth to get to 470Bhp.

Thought I put in the above post'Doh'that figure was with 10lit meth to
a tank.It made 455/425 on vpower at 1.8 bar |

If the OP is running standard ECU then he's limited to 1.55 Bar unless he has AVCR or similiar. Tbh i'd not get hooked up on figures too much. Mine runs 1.4Bar & 425Bhp and still seems plenty quick enough to me. May get to 440 When the FMIC goes on but even then the Maf is pretty much maxed out |

650cc might be getting a bit close to maxing out.

Will hit those figures and will need either aftermarket ecu to run mafless or avcr and a big maf induction kit to be able to do it on the std ecu. |

Thanks The problem with the CAK is getting a big enough filter on the end of it and all the cold air kits I have seen that I have been involved with have shown big power gains from fitting a trumpet and large cone in place of the CAK and I can give several specific examples. It does of course help to shield the cone from breathing warm engine bay air. If you plan to run methanol your 650cc injectors are way too small. Your choice of proven components is critical. Are you saying that 321Ts are actually making 520-540 bhp? Forgive me but I am a little sceptical but happy to learn. |

no the people running 522 and 540 are on rotated set ups and garretts, no way can a t achieve over 470 max . i will probably get a avcr a big maf pipe. eggy mate i haven't decided yet, will let you know if its anytime soon.

522 on vpower i dont think that will ever happen, but the H did make 490something on race fuel so if the same is applied for T then yes possibly.

correct me if im wrong guys but i'm looking to go down this road aswel, am i right in saying with the md i could run standard internals and be in the region of 400-430 and be ok? also it isnt the bhp that kills the bottom end its the amount of boost isn't it, whats the safest limit 1.6 bar or there abouts?

gt spec headers, 740s.. harvey up pipe, md321v act clutch and syvecs ecu for now.. proper engine build.. i.e. 2.1 by the looks of things.. and then just driver tuition
o and not forgetting supporting mods.. oil cooler, catch tank etc. |
so am i correct in thinking it is possible to achieve these figures on a standard sti setup although using meth mix? if so how would it compare to using md321h with meth and all supporting mods?

As you already have the turbo why not try it and let us know what you find.
Take extreme care with methanol as it is carsogenic, absorbed in to the skin, highly flammable and burns with a clear flame making it even more dangerous. I am told there are cases of ignition just from the static or whatever from a mobile phone. A good remap with a set percentage methanol and see what your gains are but you are then committed to running methanol all the time unless you have two maps. If the car is used for long journeys, carrying methanol around to perform the operation at a filling station becomes a real pain. |

Oddly enough you can find very small amounts of methanol in alot alcoholic drinks. "All types of alcoholic drinks contain some methanol, a substance blamed for the worst hangovers. Whiskey, cheap red wine, fruit brandy and other dark spirits contain the most methanol, sometimes as much as 2% by volume. Vodka and other clear drinks contain the least.
