LG John 01 October 2010 01:29 PM

Nice, what sort of power are we talking about here?

john banks 01 October 2010 01:44 PM

1000.

Terminator X 01 October 2010 01:46 PM

Wow

TX.

Jimpreza 01 October 2010 04:15 PM

Awesome time. How does that compare to a Veyron?

john banks 01 October 2010 04:35 PM

10.2 @ 142 Veyron

Playsatan 01 October 2010 06:17 PM

Amazing results for a full weight car. Can't wait till they fall into my price range (2025).

paulwrxboro 01 October 2010 10:53 PM

wow, well done that man

john banks 02 October 2010 12:28 PM

9.8 at 145.7 on first run today of our own one in the UK at Santa Pod. First GTR running 9s outside the US I think. This is also on stock frame turbos, no time to get the proper ones on.

Top effort:thumb:

Razorwrx1 02 October 2010 09:05 PM

Love it!

Do they do anything to the gearbox (other than sweep it up afterwards) as they were having issues with standard ones last I heard ?

john banks 03 October 2010 10:02 AM

The solenoids can clog but usually the gears are ok if you avoid wheel hop at launch. A few circlips and clutch parts go a long way.

Cool, nice to know some expertise is being built up and problems worked around, cant imagine what a standard one feels like (much different to a 997 turbo ?) never mind that with more than double, how much does that cost to do, could buying it and modding it to that level be done for 100k.

Can a car be too quick ?

Camoscooby 03 October 2010 11:18 AM

I bow in magnificence to this car:notworthy:notworthy

Top work................and can I have a go?:norty:

Cost to do the one we did that ran 9.8 is about £30k I guess. Better value is a standard car with just a map that can do 11.0, or adding an exhaust 10.8. Just a standard car with a map can be a bit much on the very good stock tyres, in the dry it is common for it to be fighting for traction until 4th gear.

Standard one feels like a 997 Turbo, but it depends on the variant - the 997.2 PDK Turbo S just did 2.7 to 60 by Road and Track and 6.4 to 100, 10.8 quarter mile, completely stock!

LG John 03 October 2010 01:29 PM

Ah, the law of deminishing returns.

GTR + remap + exhaust for (I assume) a fairly reliable every day 10-second car is outstanding value.

LG John 03 October 2010 01:30 PM

Guess you also can't argue against stock 911 turbo with warranty for a 10 second car either!!

Look carefully at the graph!

LG John 03 November 2010 05:10 PM

0.75G at 130mph.....not sure if that's what I was supposed to be looking for but that's what appeals!!!

The graph also suggests 130mph at 3.8s...that can't be right??

The graph starts at 60 mph, So it only takes 0.05 seconds to 60 mph???

Update

MMT WRX 03 November 2010 05:39 PM

Looks like the run had an incline of 4ft?
It accelerated from 60 to 130mph in 3.8 seconds at a constant rate.
The G was 1.5 at 60 and finished up at .75 at the 130mph point.
There was a dip in G at .5 seconds maybe wheelspin?
It started at 60mph.

john banks 03 November 2010 06:59 PM

Yes starts at 60mph, is uphill, nothing tricky really, just astonishingly fast! More so than the power to weight would suggest as it isn't far off turbo Gallardos with much more power.

LG John 03 November 2010 07:13 PM

I want :D

How much you having to chuck at a stock 09 GTR to achieve this? Surely not getting change of £75,000 to do this in the UK? Probably still a bargain mind!

john banks 03 November 2010 08:02 PM

About £40k plus the car probably.

LG John 03 November 2010 08:37 PM

Bargain for Veyron beating performance!
