Mercedes SLS in York

Saw this on Friday evening - what a HUGE car. Certainly striking but the faux retro made it look ugly as hell.

Big and ugly - what can you say. I hope it is great to drive and really fast then no-one will have to look at you long!

lozgti1 25 September 2010 09:20 AM

I think its great! Maybe that one not the best colour or angle

It's the CLS thing that amazes me.Don't understand what people see in them....just not right

SRSport 25 September 2010 10:28 AM

I like it...and then I read the price and think that or a DBS or a 458 or a Gallardo or a house and just laugh at anyone who would buy that...and then laugh even more when you compare one to a GT3 or even the new GT2 RS.

dpb 25 September 2010 10:42 AM

I know what you mean

Exclusive, ground up bespoke design , awesome performance rakish looks

- why would you buy the porsche

SRSport 25 September 2010 11:37 AM

Ok take out the GT3, I forgot anyone who spent that money on an SLS probably doesnt need to think about value for money, and add in a Vantage V12.

drb5 25 September 2010 12:23 PM

Sorry, i think it's stunning.

The retro/modern look really does it for me....although i do probably prefer the Mclaren SLR. At least...i prefer the noise. :D

SRSport 25 September 2010 12:26 PM

As said I like it but it is just too over priced for what it is going up against.

When is that new Mclaren coming out? It will then be compared to that as well.

stuart2008sti 25 September 2010 09:07 PM

I like it seen a silver one in cardiff driven by some middle aged gentleman ,Merc dealer in cardiff said that they had only four allocated to them but had six orders, credit crunch does not affect some people.Lucky buggers.

SRSport 25 September 2010 09:23 PM

But do you like it £170,000 like it? Thats the only issue I have with it.

Dedrater 25 September 2010 10:30 PM

I like it

Trout 25 September 2010 11:43 PM

For that money I would have a GT3 and a Range Rover Vogue!

SRSport 25 September 2010 11:50 PM

+1

i think this angle flatters it lol have you seen the headlights, shocking. Looks like an overpriced cut and shut rx8 to me :-o

drb5 26 September 2010 08:05 AM

If you can afford to spend 170k on cars, then i don't think the price tag would faze you much.

P1Fanatic 26 September 2010 11:27 AM

I hate it and the fact they use it as the F1 safety car. Much prefer the aggressive look of the SL65.

£130,000 is still too much for a Merc. The SLR got away with it by being designed in collaboration with McLaren but now they have lost that USP.
