Car is only 5 months old, callipers faded to grotty green already. Put it down to using Alloy Wheel Cleaner - good for cleaning wheels, bad for callipers.

Solution - one tin of hot black, one tin of hot white and two boring hours. Think it was worth it though :)

GREEN SCOOBY 04 April 2002 11:22 PM

I bet you it took more than two hours!
I painted all my calipers in green, what a fart on, never again mate.
Oh by the way they do look a lot better.

yoza 04 April 2002 11:49 PM

Hmmmm........2hrs each

mashwrx 05 April 2002 11:54 AM

what a difference! well worth it!

out of interest, what took the most time, preparation or the actual painting ? I'm very very tempted to do the same on my MY01...

yoza 05 April 2002 12:49 PM

Prep was easy, wire brush on the end of a drill, zap, wizz done!!:D
longest was painting the SUBARU and the two lines in white
Jackin the car up took ages tho, using that fiddley little screw driver to turn the jack, scrapping knuckles etc .Then when i put it all away b*$*$*d there was the jack handle stuck to the underside of the wheel cover

yoza -- I fell for that one at the side of the A12 once.

mashwrx 05 April 2002 03:21 PM

sounds good, where do you get the paint, I looked in my local Halford's lunch time and the've got nothing...

(Glad I'm not the only one who did'nt spot the jack handle - talk about 'ministry of crap design'....)

cheers

Buggar!

Just changed my brake pads today and started to use the piddly screwdriver...

Normally I'd use a 2 ton hydraulic car jack, 2 jerks and it's all over ;-)

Nice caliper paint job. I think i should spend some time doing mine as they look far wors than yours did.

tinydelete 28 April 2002 09:31 PM

must do mine where is the paint from?

john banks 28 April 2002 09:54 PM

I'm tempted to just slap black all over the Subaru lettering too!
