what engine build?

well just sopld the engine out my96 uk 2000, so undecided on building one or buying a sti lump and inlet etc or 2.5? dont want to spend mega amounts of cash but have a reasonable budget that ill try to stick too.

Depends on what you want out the car plus the budget you have in mind.

ukimpreza 07 September 2010 06:11 PM

i want 350 horse and reliability as its not just a weekend car i have a few grand but was hoping to use some to have front mount etc and arches done budget is not fixed but hoping to stay within it

A forged 2.0 or 2.1 for a nice revvy setup. The 2.5 will be a fun road car with lots of midrange power.

There's many ways to go about reaching 350hp & it shouldnt be that expensive to do.

if you go for the 2.5, add 3k to the tot
for a 6 speeder, the torque will kill the 5 speed box.

i spent just over 2k, sti v7 block sti v4 heads. i have 341.4bhp, and 338lbft torque.
i was going to get the 2.5 block, had the cash, and a seller to hand.

the sti v7 block was the same price, just couldnt be doing with the messing around with dvla changing the log over

i think the forged 2.0 is best idea, was it only the sti with the cdb?

dabow 07 September 2010 09:28 PM

well the sti v7/v8 are forged mate.

ukimpreza 07 September 2010 09:37 PM

fully or part? will it go in without too much messing about with wiring etc?

dabow 07 September 2010 09:42 PM

i put the sti v7 block in my uk 95 classic.
fitted with a set of sti heads, makes a good build mate.
the blocks are good form 425 with no issues, the sti v4 heads are good for 500bhp

+ there still a 2.0
