Overheating
Driving along today normally in my classic and the temp guage started moving slowly but surely into the red, i quickly noticed it and pulled over and turned the engine off. Popped the bonnet and water and steam was pushing out the coolant tank . Let it cool down abit and started it back up, the fans still came on but again the temp guage shot up. Undid the coolant lid and it's like its pushing the water out the coolant tank.
Anyone any ideas:confused: |
is the tank plastic or metal ?
Any signs of a hose split ? plastic ones can break after a while. |
I think it might be plastic with the metal top bit round it, heaters were still blowing hot air out and no smoke etc from exhaust

Hi,
Strange one, i take it you mean the expansion tank on top of the engine. See post below (Common things): https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...-canister.html Yours does sound different but it may seem like its coming from expansion tank. If it is you must have a faulty seal the pressure in there when hot will be around 14psi/ 1 bar |
first of all try new rad caps as if they've gone faulty they won't hold the pressure , let the engine cool down and try bleading the system to get rid of any air locks ..... don't want to sound negative but more than likely your head gaskets have most prob' gone ... i would'nt drive it un till you have had it checked out as you may cause more damage:thumb:
