Bent Intercooler Fins
I have already done a load of searches and found out how to do it, just wondering if there are any real dramas caused by tearing any fins during the process?
As far as i know the charge air passes through the inside of the vertical sections inside the intercooler and what you can see from above is only a mesh designed to give maximum surface area access for air to get into the cooler. correct? |
Yep.
Fins are to increse surface area for the colder air passing over the intercooler, the charge air is inside the hollow tubes. You can get a fin straightner from Agrimech for a few quid. I used to use a tooth pick! |
Ok, more detail, the IC is crushed on one side and there is air escaping from the internal chamber, i take it that this means it is fooked?

I'll get back to you when i have sorted this one out mate! I might just use the alloy Y-Pipe on my original black one. That seems to be what you have got?
