IS THIS 'NORMAL'...?!?!

Do all MY99/00 steering wheels have these 'splits' in them? Or has my one's leather just contracted over the last 10+ years and then split at that vulnerable tensioned area? :wonder: |
Not normal, never seen that on any of the scoob steering wheels
|
Typical! lol
Cheers. |
Happened to my MY98 too... I guess it's because of age and heat... Seems rather typical

Yep, same here and I saw it on a friend's car. Looks like that is what happens to the steering wheels as they get old.

must be a friday wheel

Well, that'd certainly be plausible, if they were assembled by UK workers! :D |
mines well worn at 115k but no splits
|
If mine's the original wheel, then it's only 40k miles old! It does look that young - the condition of the rest of the leather is bang on, for that mileage ballpark. :(
|
Must've been owned by someone with permanent white knuckles. ;)
|
Age and heat Joz, buy yourself a sexy new one :D
|
Thing is, outwardly and inwardly (save for a boost gauge and red painted 4-pots lol) the car is totally OEM bone stock looking - and I want to keep it that way.
So it'd have to be a replacement MY99/00 wheel that's better than mine. Do any of the New Ages still have that style wheel? If so, what's the youngest MY? |
|
Cheers - I thought the Bug had that wheel too. :)
I might get it.... But first I'm gonna put the feelers out to see if anyone has an umnmarked one (save for naturally worn leather, obviously). Thanks dude. :thumb: |
My last 99. Model had done 135k ,wheel was worn but no splits like that .
|
They're not very nice are they? :(
They're a bit vulva-esque LOL! They're gash. Literally! :lol1: |
