Cigarette Lighter not working

Recently bought my sti and tried to charge my iphone but there seems to be no power getting to unit, the push in lighter doesnt push in or my charger wont power up. I've looked at the fuse (according to the manual) and it doesnt seem broken so I'm a bit lost as to what to do next, any help would be much appreciated thanks

Some lighter sockets had a fuseable link where the leads plug on

I have an 03 Sti I've removed the stereo facia to get access to the back of the lighter and cant seem to see lose wires or fuses anywhere :wonder:

You need to get to the rear and use a circuit tester/multimeter to check if it has a live supply AND a decent earth path.

ALSO: don't assume a fuse IS OK just because it LOOKS OK, test it.

If all else fails like mine did you end up paying extortion money to Subaru for a new one :brickwall

Havnt had a look yet, but I have bought a complete unit off ebay for £5 just in case

chappers51 10 July 2010 12:42 PM

Does anybody know how to remove the complete lighter unit?

chappers51 11 July 2010 01:08 PM

Anybody?

This may be no help, but on a classic, you can get at it by removing the radio/CD.

Mine's just spring-clipped into place, so maybe lever out with a screwdriver, but use padding, (folded paper towel), under the tip agianst any trim;)
