Ive heard so many different versions,but can anyone tell me when i should be getting a cambelt change?the last was on 33,500miles and the car is now at 38,000.

Cam belt renewal intervals depend on the model year of your vehicle. For early cars (94my-99my) the interval is 45,000 mls or 3yrs (which ever comes first) From 99my on, the interval changed to 60,000 mls or 4yrs. Regards Phil |

Accepting that the later cars are recommended as 60k it is prudent to change at 45k, the belts are no different on material and construction and I know of cars having problems during the "interval". Yes they are expensive at £99 plus vat but labour is (should be) only 1 hour, cheap compared to an engine rebuild. Especially relevent to any car running different engine management or other peformance enhancing system.
