options on a rebuild needed
 

i've got a water leak on my v2 555 and i'm pretty sure it's down to a headgasket. now i've been looking at the enginetuner 2.1 stroker but i don't think they replace the headgasket so now i'm unsure. would be helpful to hear other peoples opinions, especially if they have been in similar situation

why a 2.1 stroker? whats the rough price on one of those? sorry I can be of no help with your questions....

i say 2.1 stroker because i wanna go for big big power over the next few years and if i go for the stroker my engine would be bulletproof... even at 500bhp plus. i just had an email off alan jeffery at enginetuner though which was very useful. there's 2 different prices and i got confused. :Whatever_

sorry, I actually meant, why a 2.1 not a 2.2 or 2.5 etc... the reason I ask, is that I am going for 450bhp on my STi and know the engine wont last for ever, so looking at the options already :)

If they fit the 2.1 for you, then yes they will fit new metal HGs as a matter of course. :confused:

If you fit it, then you have to source the HGs yourself (unless enginetuner includes them as part of their "2.1 kits"?).

They'll replace your head gaskets when they fit the stroker into your block. You can't go wrong with Enginetuner! Just give them a call with any questions you have, you'll receive top class service :thumb:

i say 2.1 because i would be supplying my own 2ltr engine. i prefer the 2ltr over the 2.5 anyway and when i was reading a mag article on rcm's gobstopper and norris' bogie evo (banzai mag i think) the rcm lads said the 2.0 ltr was stronger than the 2.5 so that made up my mind really.

alan has already messaged me and i'll be ringing him on tuesday to have a word. the only problem is i'm from coventry and i've got a perfectly good place to take my car (thwaites developments) i'll more than likely take it there as its a lot easier and i've been there before and it's a faultless service

have heard good things of api but ive only used thwaites and never had problems so why change now ;)

Used to go to Zen, but now they don't do garage srvices, now go to API instead. Both same distance from me - c. 50min drive. :)

Just a 262 silver MY93 WRX with the usual gold multispokes/STi 5 rear wing, etc, etc.

Got a Zen-rebuilt STi spec motor running 282bhp at the mo. Runs perfect (very quiet re det) - beautifully mapped by JGM/Zen.

Have got various bolt-on mods accrued in the flat, ready to get fitted/mapped at API very soon, for around 380bhp... :) :norty:

They are refering to a 2l closed deck (not a 2l open deck as I persume you have). Most tuners say 450 is about the max you can push a 2.5 semi-closed (some people run more without issue).

i do have a cdb though.. all the v1 n v2 sti's had them i am led to believe
