Exhausts UK

Booked my car in tomorrow for my backbox swapping over.

Got a Mongoose 3" turbo back decat with 4" rolled in backbox and im having the backbox swapped for a 5" slash cut jap can as im hoping this will make it abit louder and the scooby burble more noticable as its quiet discreet on mine.

Just wondered who else had hadwork done there an what there opinions where?

joz8968 30 April 2010 12:37 PM

Well, they are the Cobra manufacturers aren't they?

Anyway, I've not heard a bad word said of them from members on here.

My mate had a DC2 and went down there to have a custom back box fabricated and I can vouch it was top-notch quality - certainly for the price he paid - and made that mental VTEC sound like a genuine pseudo-touring car. It was mad!

I have a decat and centre from them, not the same quality as something like a blitz, but it is half the price. My biggest gripe is their 3" system is actually a 2.75" system - the OD is 3":Whatever_

powerwrx 30 April 2010 12:46 PM

tbh i cant see the tailpipe diameter making any difference in the sound mate just looks. ide save your money if i were you

joz8968 30 April 2010 12:50 PM

The Jap-style one might have a smaller, minimal baffled can though - hence louder/different timbre, etc...

Murph86 30 April 2010 12:55 PM

Thats what im hoping, with a 3" turbo back decat i was expecting big noise but is actually really quiet, im hoping as a jap can is not a silenced backbox likethe mongoose it will free up abit of noise plus mine looks poo!

I used to have an EP3 and phoned them for a system but went with Buddy club but i heard they are mad on Vtechs.

Well, if the Jap-style one you already have ends up being a disappointment, then just replace it with one of their off-the-shelf Cobra items, while you're there.

I have a 3" decat d/p (but OEM-sized 2.5" centre flange) + Cobra 3" system. Very loud. Please note that obviously the straight through centre and decat d/p are responsible for some of the loudness - really noticed it got louder when got round to adding the decat d/p to the system.

Maybe not as "tuneful" as a Nur Spec, but still loud and raw, and really amplifies the off-beat burble...

Sounds good, ill see what they can do anyway, if im nothappy ill do a PowerWRX and just sell it again ha ha!

powerwrx 30 April 2010 03:26 PM

good thinking...you may take my crown as the king of exhausts

wrighty338 30 April 2010 03:29 PM

im running a 3' resonated d/p back system from them. quality is fine, sounds great

Nice, a new exhaust and a crown?

We cant help being fussy, we know what we like!

i have a 3" bore backbox with 4" tailpipe, cant fault the build quality. this is my 3rd exhaust from them (different cars)

help2003 30 April 2010 05:23 PM

Got a full decat from them 3" light weight system with 4.5" tail, Great bunch down there,

Loving the sound it makes, (when the car is working for long enough)

Myles 30 April 2010 05:47 PM

My mate has just had a catback fabricated for his Celica, he loves it. Well happy with their service. Sounds a lot better than it did.

Murph86 01 May 2010 02:47 PM

Well im back now and i have to say they are very friendly and provide a great service, exhaust is exactly how i wanted it but maybe a little more slanted than i asked for.

Its alot louder for ditching a silenced backbox and it actually sounds like a proper scooby now so im officially happy..........but for how long ha ha!
