I've been had....

Not very happy, I bought this in anticipation of a new lease of power, and as you can see the old one is off ready for the new to go in and it is not even a close fit:mad:

I can make it work, but it will involve me cutting the third decat pipe that I was hoping to sell to put some cash towards then next round of mods.

I've PM'd the guy, just waiting for an answer - but I need to do it today otherwise it'll not happen:cry:

As you can imagine, I'm a little bit annoyed - the car is getting mapped in 3 days and I don't have any way of getting this sports cat fitted as it is the wrong size and shape for my car. At the very least I expect a full refund as you have misrepresented this in the sale, if you wish to argue I will also ask that you refund what it has cost me to re-wrap it and also for the adaptor and clamps too. Contact me and and let me know when you intend to refund my cash and collect this as it is no use to man nor beast.

Regards

Jon

Bloody hell mate WTF hope you get sorted PDQ for remap :thumb:

Constructed from 3" T306 stainless steel direct from the turbo for maximum flow, the downpipe bolts directly on to our O.E cat back system, or can be purchased with a sleeve fitting designed for use with the Revolution system
You needed the rest of the system by the looks Jon :(

JonMc 28 March 2010 05:07 PM

I have decided that I can't be @rsed waiting, I need to cut my blitz, and get a flexi joint welded in in the near future, but I can make it fit. It is designed to mate to a sleeve jointed system, which Subaru never made and certainly quality aftermarket exhausts are flange jointed not sleeved jointed in my experience. Without the flexi, and the donut joint gone, there is no play left in the system (except where I will fit the sleeve joint for now). With the amount of cutting and sawing I've done in the last few days I'll have a right arm like a long term prisoner:eek:

hmmm not good jon hope you get it sorted mate

JonMc 28 March 2010 08:59 PM

I'm far from happy with the fit, it needs a pipe bender on it and a flexi-joint - the blitz (which mated happily with the factory system) and the 'Revolution' sport cat both point in different directions. Hopefully this will see me through the mapping and I can sort out a permanent fix in slower time:mad:

Strangely enough there's been no contact, but he was online this afternoon:?

Luther 29 March 2010 10:09 AM

Feck me mate.... that don't look good. Hope you get it sorted in the long run :(

Did a mapping session with Rich last night..... feck me that was fun.... :D

JonMc 29 March 2010 11:13 AM

I'm gonna give him a bell in about 10 minutes (when I cool down). It needs to be cut and a flange joint welded in to correct the angle. Before the bigger turbo comes it will also need a bellmouth welding on:brickwall

rickya 29 March 2010 01:36 PM

Id just get a new, correct fitting one instead :(

JonMc 29 March 2010 01:44 PM

By time I get a new sport cat and centre pipe it will cost £300+. The flanges I've just got for £16, flexi joint £20 and someone to weld it together - depends whether Rich wants the work, it's not a difficult job in all honesty. When I get the bigger turbo, I may do that and sell this lot as a job lot - at least then I can be confident that what I am selling will fit.

madisonmonkey 29 March 2010 04:24 PM

I can get that welded for you Jon. Give me a shout if it needs doing and Rich isn't available.

JonMc 29 March 2010 04:27 PM

Will do Jim, I'm just getting the bits togther, flanges are on the way. The welder will probably want to see it in-situ so he knows the effect he's after so it may be after the remap (assuming it doesn't fall off:().

madisonmonkey 29 March 2010 04:31 PM

When you getting mapped? If you do all the cutting and prep I can just bring the welder over, tack it and then take it off to be finished. Depends on the time frame...

JonMc 29 March 2010 04:49 PM

The mapping will all depend upon Rich's time which is limited at the moment, and whether or not I can sort the headers myself after Rich ports them. Potentially could be one evening this week, but looking more likely to be next week. Now I've found my electric saw, cut won't be problem - I just need to find more things to cut and vandalise:D

Once the flanges and flexi joint arrive I'll take it from there and let you know:thumb:

JonMc 31 March 2010 10:53 PM

After taking it all off again today to remove the headers, I've decided to go for a full decat and will be ordering a new 3" decat and centre pipe tomorrow - lots of pops and bangs:D

I've got a TD05-16g that you could bolt on, whilst you've got the TD04 off anyway ;)

It already back on, with the up-pipe:D.

Anyway, by time I sort this lot out I couldn't afford a new turbo just yet:(

Ooh! :norty:

JonMc 01 April 2010 07:49 AM

Out of curiosity, how much:?

FB Tuning 01 April 2010 09:29 AM

£80 - you'll need to get a Front Entry compressor cover for it. :)

JonMc 01 April 2010 09:38 AM

But I'll still be limited by my injectors though:?

Let's see what I have left after I sort the exhaust out, after all it's not a huge job to swap the turbo again:Whatever_

TonyBurns 01 April 2010 10:29 AM

It may well fit a jdm twin scroll car but as its a 2.5ltr engine cat it wont fit normal 2ltr cars due to the sump :(
Bit of bad advertising by the advertiser and you should be able to get your money back off him for that :)

Tony:)

Shiver 01 April 2010 10:29 AM

I'd be interested to know what some more "go" would cost me too Rich. Will chat at the tunnel run if we can catch you :lol1:

The flange is right for the single scroll, it just doesn't line up with anything else under the car, even when I have cut it and my blitz centre the 2 meet at an angle so short of welding in flanges at an angle they won't come together.

At least when I come to resell it (with some decent wrap on) I can make the buyer aware. At the moment he is ignoring me, I've PM'd him and put a comment on the ad, he's been online, but not responded:mad:

FB Tuning 01 April 2010 12:54 PM

Jon - I've got a set of pink injectors too ;)

Shiver - I'll see you on Sunday

It looks very odd Jon tbh. I have the H&S Sports cat and decat second pipe which I was running on my 53WRX, direct fit and line up on my 06SpecD 2.5 UK STi. No sump issues:confused: Prodrive sports cats tend to not fit apparently do to the mounting brackets, but nothing a little cutting can't sort. I can only think it built to only be used in conjunction with the rest of the Rev system like the custom TSL one.

Go TD05 and bigger injectors if you can, you surely deserve it after such exhausting diappointment :D:thumb:

Rich I'll send that PM over the weekend of what I need doing, no rush to reply not looking to come over till end April:thumb:

Rich, you are evil - do you do credit:D

JonMc 01 April 2010 03:06 PM

BTW Rich, you haven't mentioned the tumbler delete kit you have yet:?

And if I do all this now, where do I go next - it's not worth upgrading from a 16G to and 18G for 25bhp, and don't say stroker:D

53 01 April 2010 03:37 PM

16g won't eat your box quite so readily:) and will be less laggy for the new FMIC. Also you could run a DV delete :D as 16g's are relatively cheap if you believe the turbo destructionists regarding DV deletes.:thumb:
