Really?

How come?

beef-on-the-bone 27 February 2010 09:31 PM

do recall reading that the paint is more like a primer than a paint if that makes sense?!?! not as hard-wearing i think
don't know if that's the case......

midloscooby 27 February 2010 10:00 PM

does look the nuts!!

You can have your whole car wrapped in matt black vinyl now,
i reckon better than painting it bcus you could always remove it.

Probably shows a lot more imperfections as well.

Now that sounds a much better idea. Any idea of where to get it done & how much it might cost?

i matt blacked my drift r32 on the cheap after i had the old bill chasing me for it being three different colours look ok after it had weathered a bit but it was 4 of us with rattle cans if i was gonna do it id wrap it cause it will only be a fad like the flip paint

chris_wrx 27 February 2010 10:07 PM

A wrap has to be the way forward, at least you can reverse it come sale time.

The prep work is a pain because any imperfections stand out a mile. Also when the paint is applied if there are any problems it cant be flatted back and re applied. It has to be taken off and redone.

956curtis 28 February 2010 04:10 PM

will put some up tomorrow when i have washed it at work and the lights better in the workshop aswell

ScoobyRalph 28 February 2010 04:17 PM

Have to agree a matt black vinyl wrap is the way forward, its not permanent and there is nothing like the amount of prepwork needed to get the paint 100% as mentioned above.

yes mine is matt black. the whole car. still got a little few things to sort out.

as for the above it is easy to flat back again and hide imperfections. but i must point out that it does weather bad. well not as bad, but you get what i mean

Do a google image search for "Matte black cars" to see loads of examples. Some are better than others.
