IHI VF35 vs. FP

Hi to all. I have bugeyeSTI with stock IHI VF35. I am thinking of replace for FP TD05H-16G or 18G. Please help me which one is better. appreciate for help

TD05 16G would have little effect in performance against the VF35, the 18G however will give more power when tuned correctly ie the ECU.

Harvey on here has very good offerings on TD series turbos.

I mapped one of Harveys special 18G's on a 2.5 hawkeye WRX today.

I have to say that this has to be the perfect turbo for the standard ish car.

Very responsive but still with good stable boost and without the tailing off or heat generators that other 18G pretenders have.

I like this turbo a lot and for a standard car with just exhaust and air filter - it is spot on. A real STi killer - no standard (or probably remapped sti) would get close for torque and outright power.

I got Harvey's ported headers & up pipe & once mapped I was quite impressed with the extra torque. How much does he charge for the 18g?

joz8968 04 March 2010 09:48 PM

£625 + £12.50 p&p :)

dynamix 04 March 2010 09:50 PM

Think it is £650 now joz.

joz8968 04 March 2010 10:12 PM

harvey, you cheeky scamp! lol :D ;)

harvey 04 March 2010 10:19 PM

Just look at the £/$. All component parts are paid for in $ so the margin is less now despite the price being £650 and even that might be going up.

joz8968 04 March 2010 10:25 PM

Yep, I was only kidding. ;) Your 18g is very good value IMO. :thumb:

Great turbo by all accounts. :)

And exceptional performance with very little drop off top end with good spool bottom end. It took some time getting the spec right but we have it cracked now.

I was pleased with the early iirc 20g variant of Harveys, mapped on meth made 411 bhp with a mixed bag setup, makes for a good fast road car.

joz8968 05 March 2010 10:20 AM

harvey, do you still do your "own recipe" 20g, too (as what Un-Ink eludes to ^^^)?

Yes he does Joz, just supplied one to my mate of mine, getting mapped in 2 weeks by JGM, its going on a Hawk wrx

I also have one on my 02 jdm sti which made 405 on 97ron and 3ml NF mapped by JGM

joz8968 05 March 2010 01:07 PM

What price for the HS 20g, 71/200?

Cheers.

71/200 05 March 2010 01:40 PM

Mine is a few years old now Joz, but i think my mate payed around £850 for a BNIB Turbo.

Couple of guys running harveys turbos over here in NI with good results on the 97ron as that is the best we can get. One of the WRX hawkeyes running an 18G from Harvey broke the gearbox yesterday but its all fixed now.

In the next 2 weeks JGM will be mapping a Type R on an 18G and the WRX Hawk on a 20G both supplied by Harvey.

Waiting for results from Bob Rawle after remap with Harvey's 18g, but can say it's pulling like a train! Great turbo.

Saving up for Harvey's ported headers and quickshift.
