The South Africa v England Test Match Thread

Sorry it's a bit late boys was @ Depeche Mode last night and it takes me a bit longer than it used to to get going in the mornings!

We have good news and bad....

SA are 1 wicket down being the good news... any idea what the bad news is?

Funkii Munkii 16 December 2009 11:34 AM

Rubbish, you'd have hated them....... :D

Damn good actually. Played "Insight" which was nice. Not heard that live before. Anton Corbijn is god :notworthy

Funkii Munkii 16 December 2009 10:50 PM

Did he do a slide show/projection thingy for the stage show then ??

Insight is a great song.

Wish I'd been there :(

Milamber 17 December 2009 10:43 AM

They were rubbish again last night :lol1:

"Dressed in black" was a real surprise :thumb:

Milamber 17 December 2009 10:48 AM

I see Colly has put us back in a good position

Funkii Munkii 17 December 2009 11:20 AM

F*ck Colly, I'm still coming to terms with how bad it was last night ;)

Dressed in Black, bloody retro Mode or what.

Sounds like 2 killer gigs, homesick for the snow and the gigs now :lol1:

Milamber 18 December 2009 12:06 PM

I see Bell did his usual job.....

Milamber 18 December 2009 02:16 PM

from the BBC

Ian Bell, Ian Bell,
What a waste of space,
How many times will he let us down?
He's a W.G. dis-Grace

Milamber 18 December 2009 02:17 PM

to the tune of jingle bells

Oh, Leave it Bell, leave it Bell
Don't get in the way
I bowl it slow and pretty straight
And you'll give your stumps away.

Milamber 18 December 2009 02:18 PM

From an unhappy Jim in Sheffield, TMS inbox: "The argument that Bell has a great technique is nonsensical for me. I've got a decent technique stood in my bedroom, but surrounded by 11 Saffers baying for blood it might fall down a bit. Although I'd have probably had a stab at hitting the ball."

Milamber 18 December 2009 03:12 PM

Swanny and 'yer man' Jimmy have gone insane and forgotten to throw away their wickets

Milamber 18 December 2009 03:41 PM

oh no, business as usual...

Milamber 19 December 2009 05:08 PM

I have to say that I doubt this one is going to end with a win for us.

Funkii Munkii 19 December 2009 10:52 PM

Hopefully we can hold out for a draw unless KP has an inspired day and does a Chris Gayle.

I tell you the Windies ahould have beaten the Aussies in Perth, 80 to win 3 wickets in hand but they tried to smash everything for 6 with a whole day ahead of them, ridiculous.

Milamber 20 December 2009 02:28 PM

So who thinks that getting run out in a TEST MATCH is acceptable?

Milamber 20 December 2009 02:28 PM

"That Pietersen, eh? He's being carried by the rest of the England team. He's nothing but a showboater and an incorrigible egotist. Not to worry though: we've got Ian Bell."
Oliver, BBC TMS inbox

Funkii Munkii 20 December 2009 10:53 PM

Surely the Bell will toll for Ding Dong now.

In at 3, 5 or even 6 does it matter anymore.

Milamber 20 December 2009 11:23 PM

Who want's 20/20 when a test match can have so much excitement? Stupid run-out, heading for a dull draw onlt for England to throw it away and then do a Cardiff :lol1:

Milamber 30 December 2009 12:15 AM

due to the xmas festivities I haven't been able to keep as up to date as I would like but it looks like this one is in the bag :thumb:

Milamber 30 December 2009 10:28 AM

1 innings AND 98 runs

Milamber 04 January 2010 03:27 PM

10 wickets in a day (and counting) KP throwing his wicket away, the pressure getting to Bell (again) and 14 runs in 10 overs at one point.

Still think we can win this one though.

It does make me laugh every time KP gets boo'd by the South Africans though.

Bravo2zero_sps 04 January 2010 08:06 PM

WTF did the groundsman do to the pitch over night! Bowlers dream that pitch without being dangerous

Funkii Munkii 05 January 2010 12:41 AM

Sadly I didn't get to see any of the 2nd test, great result though, and the third looks poised to be very tight.

So I missed Bell's 141, or was that a typo in the paper ;)

Bravo2zero_sps 06 January 2010 03:13 PM

What a useless pair of tw4ts  Two pathetic shots and it's game over now. Needed to end the day without losing a wicket to have any chance of saving the game  Just not strong enough batting side.

Milamber 07 January 2010 10:10 AM

Oh dear Jimmy and Trott have gone already, we now have Ian "1 good innings every 18 months" Bell

From the BBC

1000: Eng 164-5
Ian Bell: your time is now. This is your day. Silence the doubters. End the criticism. Dabber outside off, four though backward point. That's my boy.

Milamber 07 January 2010 10:18 AM

Approx. 80 overs = 480 balls, ÷ 6 batsmen = 80 balls each, or just over 12 overs. Easily doable

Bravo2zero_sps 07 January 2010 10:19 AM

:lol1: you're living in cloud cuckoo land :D This is the England team we're talking about!
