Swirl pot / fueling set ups

post your swirl pot / fuel set up

got an sm engineering jobby to put in somewhere so need inspiration inc hosing, pumps etc.

mines got 3 x -6 'inlets' i presume and a -8 outlet, sound normal? does one have to be a breather?

The Stitcher 06 December 2009 11:07 PM

m@t STImulation 08 December 2009 06:20 PM

great pics guys
i do love a swirly

scoobyc 08 December 2009 07:51 PM

yeah would be nice to see some of the smaller setups where it doesnt take the whole boot up...

MartynJ 09 December 2009 01:52 PM

I have mounted mine under the bonnet, passenger side at the rear just in front of the removed air con pipes. No pics at the moment but I will try and get some.

In answer to the breather question, no the 4 pipes are return to tank, return to swirl pot from regulator, and feed in and feed out.

wrighty338 09 December 2009 09:47 PM

really? some pics of yours would be appreciated martyn, can you let me know which pipes on yours are which then? iv got one on the top, 3 on the side, the bottom -8 must be the fuel out im guessing. not sure which way round to arrange the other 3 x -6 ones!

Isnt it a bit dodgy putting the swirl pot cool etc in the front of a car engine bay where its most likely to suffer damage in an off/accident?

dynamix 24 December 2009 01:51 PM

A bit like having the fuel tank at the back ... depends which part of the car you crash.

Simple - dont crash ;)

wrighty338 24 December 2009 11:22 PM

nicely Duncan, very cool setup

whats the logic behind a fuel cooler then, does cooler fuel make more bang? very trick! how did you know when to fit one?

scoobyc 25 December 2009 07:35 PM

very nice setup duncan!

TA at Snetterton in october 2008 and my car started leaning out massively because the fuel got warm (well hot actually) because pushing too much pressure through the pump. Hot fuel expands and effectively leans out the mixture.

The fuel cooler has done a perfect job at sorting that small issue out. Just fitted it in the return to the swirl pot from the fuel regulator.

Swirl pot, pump and filter all mounted in the engine bay.

Pot is in the background, if you squint, you can make it out. Pump and filter in a separate cradle. The pot is fed from a Walboro 255 intank mounted pump.
