WR1 ECU in STi

Hi,

bought a WR1 ECU and exhaust to put in my 03 STi,just looking for comments on if it will work ok?

I can't see why not,but anybody know for sure? or do I have to be the guinnee pig

thanks,

Anders_WR1 31 October 2009 11:43 PM

Have you added the rest of the PPP parts as well? If you fit the ECU without these I doubt you will gain anything, or could even cause damage the engine if the Walbro fuel pump is missing etc

I have the walbro to fit also, forgot to mention that

as far as i'm aware that's all that is needed?

thanks,

AFAIK the full PPP parts list is:

Walbro fuel pump
Prodrive 100 cell CAT open-neck downpipe
Prodrive back box
3-port boost solenoid with revised boost pipes to avoid heat from turbo
Better intercooler Y-piece
Revised ECU map

thanks,

why would anybody buy something and then ask if it will work? did you not do any research before you bought the thing? is the wiring loom the same? is the pin out the same, can the ecu be reprogrammed? your 03 STi is certainly not a WR1

Motion-Mx 01 November 2009 10:09 AM

the STi isn't far from a WR1,as Anders has just pointed out

thanks,

The ECU will fit but boost control will be screwed using a 2 port on a 3 port map.

is it just the wr1 that had the 3port boost solenoid or was the 3 port fitted to all sti ppp`s?

bluenose172 01 November 2009 04:19 PM

Just the WR1.

Motion-Mx 01 November 2009 04:55 PM

I have the boost selenoid also, will there be no boost if I don't fit the new selenoid?

I just fitted the ECU,and replaced the chip in my key for the cotrrect one but the can't wont start...does the key need re programming aswell?

thanks,

Motion-Mx 01 November 2009 06:51 PM

I just found out it's because I dont have the transponder,If for some reason I can't get hold of said transponder.is there any other way around it?

thanks,

Motion-Mx 01 November 2009 10:41 PM

yeah take it to subaru and pay £57.50 to have your keys coded to the ecu.

Motion-Mx 06 November 2009 07:06 PM

the guy is having trouble locating the receiver box,I just had a look at my car,is it the silver box held via 4-6 allen bolts?

also anywhere in the UK I can buy the prodrive 3 port boost solenoid?

thanks,

thanks,

I recon your local subaru dealer would be able to order one, or any ECUTEK tuner as they are a common upgrade when you remap.

Motion-Mx 06 November 2009 10:21 PM

ok thanks I'll give Subaru a call tommorow, any ideas on the immobiliser receiver?

thanks again,

bluenose172 06 November 2009 10:46 PM

Don't goto Subaru for the 3 port, they'll fleece you for about £200. Try to source a 2nd hand one.

Motion-Mx 06 November 2009 11:10 PM

I had a look around and can't seem to see any for sale,I found a load of US sites selling them at around $100 so figured they wouldn't be too much new over here.

Motion-Mx 10 November 2009 06:17 PM

the receiver has now arrived,I just need the 3-port... does it have to be the Prodrive one or can it be any aftermarket 3-port?

thanks,

Motion-Mx 10 November 2009 10:13 PM

desperate for some input here....

thanks,

You should be able to get 3 port solenoid from Bob Rawle: BRDevelopments

ECU fitted and now running, waiting for my Prodrive 3-port to arrive, and then onto fit my sports cat...then i'll let you know how it drives...if anybody is interested?

Anders_WR1 12 November 2009 08:16 PM

If you fit all the parts, you should be making same power as a WR1 :thumb:

My ecu in my wr1 has just decided to quit on the autobahn... Got a tow home, ran a diagnostic with no connection to the ECU.
Found a second hand ecu but is there someone that can reformat or repair my old one?
Is it a straight swap key in and go job or is there programming involved?
Thanks in advance.
