cat back exhaust

i recent bought a cat back exhaust for 2001 bug eye wrx

i had a pal put it on the motor for me. only problem is i cant get an exact fit for the gasket between the cat and mid pipe. its not a good fit he says because the bore is 3" its needs a larger gasket but ive been all over inverness trying to find one he said if its 60mm one side and 80mm the other in a o ring type gasket. (coned)

any ideas who will have one even online?

are you trying to put a 3" system to your standard 2.5" downpipe?

lew0.5 02 October 2009 04:13 PM

ive bought a 3" cat back its on with a loose fitting gasket

the gasket you have recomended looks right just wana make sure its the right size

nothing to do with downpipe

powerwrx 02 October 2009 04:23 PM

the cone gasket goes at the end of the 1st cat pipe where it meets the centre section..no where else..all the other gaskets are the flat type..if you have bought a 3" cat back system then the rest of your system must be 3" unless the one you have bought narrows to 2.5" to meet up with your existing system

stays at 3"

powerwrx 02 October 2009 04:33 PM

you will need the rest to be 3"..or it will never mate up properly.

how does the rest of the world fit there 3" cat backs then

cheers for the help

powerwrx 02 October 2009 05:02 PM

with the rest of the system being 3" too....or 3" narrowing to 2.5" like the Nur Spec R is

unless someone else can correct me...as far as im aware this is how it is mate sorry
