are stick-on plates still legal???!?!?!

mickywrx 12 September 2009 09:48 PM

What is illegal about mine?

averyp2 13 September 2009 10:37 AM

I believe so, i've had stick on plates on my last two cars (on splitter) and as long as they are standard font/spacing and are mounted so they are visable ie not bent over the curve of a bumper etc then it should be fine. Mine got through about 3/4 MOTs like that.

Standard square plate cut down with tile cutting tool.

thats what i was thinking had a mot on mine a couple of weeks ago and was fine.

perhaps refering to the smaller size ones rather than just square.

Rossco_ 17 September 2009 09:46 PM

Mine also came with a square one, no issues bar it looking horrible.

Is it not accurate that import cars are allowed a slightly smaller plat on the front?

rooferman 17 September 2009 10:22 PM

Never had any problems with my plate....

.... but a policeman advised me to get a stick-on plate and put it on the bonnet, so have now got this one.....

I believe that square number plates are illegal, unless on an import - they are exempt.
