Noob - WRX PPP Blobeye

Well I traded my tuned 1.6 Swift Sport in for a 55plate WRX with Prodrive pack.

Its only coverd 23k 1 owner full service history n all that usual stuff, but it had been in storage for 2 years!!!

Took me 2 days to get the paintwork nice and smooth as it hadn't been cleaned in over 2 years, so it was covered in some seriously rough sh*t.

Fitted some 4300kHIDs and LED sidelights, replaced the WRX badge with a Prodrive badge, put Silvertec indicator bulbs in the rear and fitted some rallyflapz!
I might De-Tango my headlights now too

Got a few mod little mods to come, STI spoiler, Vortex Generator and Defuser for the back, The front will get new top n bottom grilles and a front lip. Other than that it will be staying pretty standard, as I found it bloody difficult to find a Standard Scoob with low miles and in good nick. S hopefully keeping it pretty standard and clean will pay off with the resale value when the time comes.

Here's a few pics...

How it was from the dealers

seddomyster 29 August 2009 11:42 AM

really nice mate. how much it set u back part ex as i got a facelift turbo an wouldnt mind part ex mine for a blob eye. did it cost alot extra

P&N Scooby 29 August 2009 11:46 AM

The car cost £8k (was up for £8995) traded mine in for £7500, but they let me keep my tax disc to reclaim that, which was another £100 on top. They gave it a full service and everything and MOT and it needed new pads so they did them aswell.

Got it from JCT28 (M1 junction28 mansfield) Its mainly a Ford RS dealers, but they have a few scoobs in as well.

seddomyster 29 August 2009 11:59 AM

did they give u a warranty or does that not count with a part ex. it stunning. i love high spoilers though tbh. the bug eye didnt do for me but when they changed i was impressed. hope u enjoy it

P&N Scooby 29 August 2009 12:05 PM

I'll be ordering the STI spoiler this week, just getting some quotes to get 1 sprayed up.

It came with a 30day warranty, I could have bought 3-6-12-24month warranties from them, but there is loads of companies like the RAC and AA doing warranties now too.

I bought the car with the agreement that my mechanic gave it a good going over and if he found anything wrong I could take it back and the work would be sorted or I could have my car and the money back.

Its a great car, absolutley loving it at the moment. IF i drive it steady i can get about 40mpg so Im pretty impressed by that as well.

greatgonzo 29 August 2009 12:48 PM

40 mpg !!!! If you get 16 mpg you will enjoy even more :norty::norty::norty::norty:

P&N Scooby 29 August 2009 01:01 PM

Oh yeh I can get sub 20 mpg without trying lol

will_wrx 29 August 2009 01:05 PM

Really nice buy there mate! Plans sound spot on!

Do you have any more pics of the HID's, any pics at night? As I have been thinking of getting 4300's but never sure..

:)

P&N Scooby 29 August 2009 01:12 PM

Thanks Will

I only fitted the HIDs yesterday and it was pissing it down last night so I didnt bother going out to get any pics!

The HID mainbeam makes the Halogen Hi-beam look pretty yellow/orangey next to it. I was going to go for the 6000's but I've been dazzled a few times by cars with 6-8k HIDs before so I wanted a much crisper white look.

They're pretty simple to fit (was going to de-tango the headlight while it was out too, but didnt have time) The only mod you need to do is cut a hole out of the centre of dust cover to get the cables through to the ballast pack, but its then covered by a rubber bung.

Hopefully I'll be getting a few pics tonight, my mates just bought a Evo9 GT so gonna go out for a blast and get some shots while we're out I think

seddomyster 29 August 2009 03:25 PM

It lights the road up much clearer (if you know what i mean) Ill try and take a couple of pics tonight from in the car on a country lane so you can see how it looks from in the car

Razorwrx1 29 August 2009 05:52 PM

Cracking Buy Mate. Really Nice. Loving the Mods you've done already. Future Mods sound good n all. Like you said, don't wanna over do it. Might look Cheap:nono: And as we all know. These aren't Cheap. Worth it tho:thumb::lol1:

P&N Scooby 29 August 2009 05:54 PM

Just got the headlights off (AGAIN) to de-tango them. Just waiting for the sealant to get tacky to pull it apart lol

RED2 29 August 2009 06:48 PM

Looks good mate, the detango and black headlight mod look great on silver:thumb:

P&N Scooby 29 August 2009 07:09 PM

De-tango'd

I've gotta say, its a massive improvement, really suits the silver car. Why did Subaru bother with the cost of addin a silly bit of orange plastic lol

Next mod I would do is a pair of sti winglets on the front bumper makes it look a lot better.

P&N Scooby 31 August 2009 09:22 AM

Already getting a price on the STI winglets and carbon front splitter :) I'll be ordering the STI spoiler tomorrow too.

All looks great mate. What a difference they all make:thumb:

Flaps 01 September 2009 10:42 AM

I wouldn't go throwing all the STI accessories on it, a few can look good, too many make it look like an STI wannabe.

Debadging the boot is a cheap and easy option, you might want to try that? I took the 'Subaru' letters off mine. It tidies up the end quite nicely.

P&N Scooby 04 September 2009 07:23 PM

I'm not chucking any more STI parts onto it now

The STI spoiler arrived this week, and is getting painted up next week, so should be all fitted up by next weekend :) Gonna take a few months off buying things for the car now, going on holiday next month so want the extra pennies to spend out in Cyprus.

The only other new thing is I've just ordered a underseat sub, I was gonna buy 1 of these for my swift, but never got round to it. By chance I found the sub I was looking at for HALF PRICE on fleabay, so I couldnt resist it!!! Never been a fan of BIG ICE and just want something to give a little more THUMP and take some off the strain away from the main speakers

KENWOOD KSC-SW10 POWERED SUBWOOFER WIRED REMOTE CONTROL on eBay (end time 17-Sep-09 11:33:35 BST)

P&N Scooby 04 September 2009 07:48 PM

Yes dave they are pretty tight! The scoob only just fits, my neighbour cant get his Beemer 530 in his garage LOL
