The 'SCOTTISH' guy lost :(

Oh well, at 22 well done Andy.

Let the detractions begin, lol :D

Nat 03 July 2009 06:47 PM

What a shame.

Rod had a better game plan thanks to his coach who is recognised as the best in the game. They were evenly matched otherwise, the Murray camp didn't have the brains to work out how he should play. He needs to sort that...

drb5 03 July 2009 06:48 PM

He done well, but Roddick was better.

He does play v. well under pressure though.

Nat 03 July 2009 06:48 PM

Fed will thrash Rod now though.

Jye 03 July 2009 06:49 PM

Agreed :)

drb5 03 July 2009 06:49 PM

:D Yep.

Bravo2zero_sps 03 July 2009 06:52 PM

Murray had his chances such as 3 break points early in the 3rd set and then loses them. Do that in a semi final and you are making life very difficult to win. Roddick was better and more powerful in his shots.

Geezer 03 July 2009 06:54 PM

He was just outclassed today. Still, if he had played like that against Federer, he would have lost 6-0 6-0 6-0, so perhaps it's best.

I don't think Roddick will beat Federer, so another record for the Swiss ponce.

Geezer

SWISS PONCE
LOL ;)

davyboy 03 July 2009 07:09 PM

Why would someone call one of the greatest Tennis players of all time called a PONCE?

i think Roger Federer is the consumate sportsman -- in the top 3 of all time tennis players, however you cut the statistics and true winner and one of the humblest people you would ever meet, always gives loads of media interviews in 4/5 languages, and time for his fans

if he is a ponce then I would like my 9 year old tennis fanatic son to be a ponce too:thumb:

i dont think people realise just how good Federer is

Mmm, let me be clear, I think Federer is a class act, like you say one of the very best, the Woods of tennis, but, have you seen the way he dresses off court?

I rest my case m'lud ;)

How was he outclassed? He won and lost a set on service and lost two tie breaks - that's as close as it can be. He lost on tactics, his camp didn't have such good one's.

Murrays record against Fed is 6-2 matches btw and John Mac reckons Murray would have beaten him.

He just came up against a superior game plan today. He's beaten Rod before easily but Rods new coach gave Rod the better plan today.

He never looked like turning Roddick over after the second set. He had set point yes, but it was hardly convincing. In the fourth, he looked tired. As for tactics, this isn't Forumla One, the truly great players can handle it. I'm not saying Murray won't ever get there, but he ain't there now.

Beating him on clay in ATP Tournaments is one thing, beating him on grass in a Wimbledon final is another. He already lost a Grand Slam final to Federer on his preferred surface.

As for JM, well, sorry, I didn't realise he could tell the future, he's never beern wrong has he?.........

But he couldn't do it when it mattered could he? As I said earlier, at that level he should be able to adapt.

Why do people find it so hard to accept that 'their man/team' just wasn't good enough? It's like footballers going "we wuz robbed, we deserved", but the results show patently that they did not!

I wish Murray all the best, I'd love to see him win one, but realistically, unless he raises his game by a large margin, he ain't gonna do it whilst Messrs. Nadal and Federer are on the scene. If Nadal hadn't withdrawn, he potentially would have had to beat both of them with his seeding to lift the title!

Geezer -- thats known as sardonic style, -- at least I hope it is

Nat 03 July 2009 07:43 PM

Murray has beaten Nadal and Fed this year, more than once i think too.

Todays win for Rod was purely tactics. They were evenly matched. The score shows and reflects this, anyone who understands tennis can see this.

As for beating him when it mattered, what are you saying, that no other matches matter other than wimbledon?

hodgy0_2 03 July 2009 07:45 PM

Nadal -- is a tough one (although i thought he handled his win last year very well and have alot of time for him)

strongly suspected of using growth hormones, hence his body is fvcked -- and he will never get anywhere near feds achievements, will prob have to give up in another five years due to injuries

he is a power player and maybe he has had an artificial boost in that dept

Nat 03 July 2009 07:47 PM

Yes, Nadal is well known for using HGH.

Anyone care to back up their statements about Nadal's use of drugs with any evidence??

Roddick produced a great game on the day that was to good for Murray...I think he will have to reach another level to beat Fedorer though

Spooky Mulder 03 July 2009 09:58 PM

Remember that Murray is one of the few players to consistently beat Federer, 6 from 8 and one of the very, very few people Federer worries about playing.

Roddick was very, very clever today - he played exactly the opposite of the way he last played when Murray thrashed him. Clever coach.

Murray needs to expand his tactical game. He was close today, but did not close the deal.

For two or three games he played as well as the very best in the world. He is already massively the most successful Brit in the modern game.
