A friend of mine is thinking of getting a RB5.As I've never had one or driven one I thought I'd post this to try and find out a bit more info for him.How much he should be looking to pay, milage, year etc. He's currently running a 96 subaru turbo, but has been out in my p1 and was well impressed. This is why I think he's decided to change.

Cheers.

Anybody any thoughts on prices,he's seen a couple in the trader but not sure if there cheap or dear.

DJ Dunk 04 March 2002 10:15 AM

Have a trawl through the For Sale section for an idea on prices.

Theres one in there currently for sale too :)

DJ Dunk 04 March 2002 10:16 AM

I want one :(

AudiMan 04 March 2002 10:19 AM

Oliver.T.
SGT (near Reading) have one on there forecourt £18k,
www.sgt.co.uk It's a very nice example, I've had a look over it, bit too expensive for me though.

Oliver T. 04 March 2002 11:14 AM

Thanks Audi Man but that seems expensive £18,995 with 33,000 miles.

Cblack 04 March 2002 12:11 PM

18K isn't bad from a garage ( mileage ?) The Parkers price guide for the RB5 (non WR ) has been going up ever since I got mine 5 months ago.

Great car with more character than the standard UK, be it WR or not the car's still great fun. very little (if any) performance differance from your mates car though.

I think 162 were WR versions as new but everyone that has an RB5 on here seems to have one ??

Sideways 04 March 2002 12:18 PM

I've got my eye out for one at the moment. There is one with 30k on the clock for £14500 in Top Marques. Looks a nice example. doesn't state if its a WR or not. Lovely cars though and making them in a special colour was a really good idea.

GraemeC 04 March 2002 01:00 PM

One of the ones for sale is mine ;)

See http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?threadid=75525 for more details and make me an offer!

OK not as cheap as the one Sideways has quoted, that seems like a bargain! :o But certainly cheaper than the ones in AutTrader at the moment.

Simon West 04 March 2002 01:59 PM

Great car

Bought mine last April from local dealer for 19K. Non WR Sport V-reg 10K miles.

Still grinning :)

Simon

Oliver T. 04 March 2002 02:02 PM

Thanks Graeme,I'll tell him but I think the milage will put him off.

Yex 04 March 2002 03:48 PM

Oliver,

Mail me as per profile if your friend is serious about owning an RB5 as my RB5WR is very close to being part exchanged for something else and as such would be cheaper than any dealer car in the same condition....perfect that is :D :D :D
