EBAY 'FINAL VALUE FEES' WTF?
I recently sold an item on Ebay, and today i get an email saying i owe them listing fees (which i was expecting) and final value fees:wonder: The sale price for the item was £205, the listing fees which were £5 odd but i owe them £26.09:mad: Is this normal???
|
Yup fraid so, ebay have been taking the mick for a while.
If you go on ebid there's an offer where you pay a £50 sub and get free selling for life bar any charges for using paypal/google etc. I sold something not long ago for £140 bill came to £16 |
i had a similar email today too :(
|
What a load of shit! Time ive paid that and the paypal fees its hardly worth the bother!
So if i sold a car for £10k, id have to give ebay a grand?:lol1: Wont be selling much now then, buying only:norty: |
Cars have different fees.

The way around the FVFs on cars is to agree with the buyer to do a no sale once he/she is happy and you get it refunded by ebay. |
then you get shafted by paypal just to get your money into your account:mad:
i read an article the other day that was something like if you want to make £100 from an item it would have to go for over £110 if you had a half decent add and took all fees into account. i love ebay for buying, but i really try to avoid selling on there unless it's a popular item. |
Crap for selling now.
I no longer use it as they force you to offer paypal on most stuff (not cars) so you get shafted for listing, FVFs and then paypal (owned by ebay) who lube you up and shaft you again. And that's if you don't get paypal allowing a charge-back from a dodgy buyer. |

It happened to me over 2 years ago, i was told i owed £21, but i had paid it, i even sent them their own invoice to show i had paid it but my account got suspended. They have never dealt with the issue and stopped replying to my emails. I have never bothered with ebay since :thumb: |
Does it only apply for items over a certain value? I've sold loads of things and never had to pay these :wonder:

Its a foof up in their system and they refuse to deal with it. It seems a bit random. Its happened to a few people i know. I have not yet heard of anyone getting the issue resolved. I think their are forums everywhere about it |
Its sheer greed, imagine how much they make with just the listing fees alone, and paypal charges. Out of £205 i get £168 with everything paid. Never again, wankers:mad:
|
Unless you really want to keep your account, dont pay it and start up a new account. all ebay will do is suspend the account until you pay.

I was so angry at the time as i was verified and had a good sales record. I didn't want to set up another account and feel a better person for it :thumb: Thing is, there are enough mugs who will pay the fees and not realise that they have been done :p |
Its my first transaction, could be my last under that name:Suspiciou Thanks for the tip!:thumb:

I wouldn't give them my business again, its the principle :nono: Fleabay is a crock of sh1t anyway :thumb: |
ebay is what it is - it's great for getting rid of crap. I hardly ever fail to sell an item i want to get rid of (although not always at a price I'd like).
I've tried selling stuff in the for sale section on here, for example, and in comparison to ebay it's a night mare. You have to keep bumping your threads, get loads of dreamers offering silly prices etc. Not for me :) |

I've just had similar, selling an item for £150 and them taking £15 of it:mad:
I shall use it for buying ONLY now. Once word of this gets around, and sellers see what's going on, they will either have to bump prices by putting reserves on, and thus not sell, or use BIN and not sell. They will lose trade, lose money and withdraw, so the buyers lose too. It's pure greed and I don't understand it when they are already a rich organisation and there's a recession. I wonder if there's any mileage in a few of us getting together and setting up our own "F-bay", with cheaper costs? |

:Whatever_ |
T&C's...............well, yes, but then they go and change them
Do YOU read EVERY detail in EVERY e-mail YOU get? I certainly don't. I have e-mailed them saying I refuse to sell anything else with them, and that I think the present system is badly biased against traders/buyers dealing in more expensive items. No wonder the £950 deals on the D300 disappeared overnight even BEFORE the robbing Japs  put the price to UK buyers up. £95 to e-bay for selling one, even before you've paid any listing fees. |
I had an email back from ebay today after i expressed my displeasure about fvf's:norty: Basically they take a flat 10% out of everything, but the most they will take is £40:freak3: Or has someone had more taken?:Suspiciou
