Zero/Sports pod - do you have one?

To anyone who has a Zero/Sports gauge pod that sits on top of the clock:

http://www.zerosports.co.jp/shop/images/0930003.jpg

where does the wiring for the gauges come into the pod? I mean if it just sits on top then there's no hole in the dash for it :wonder:

borderlinechris 13 May 2009 07:04 AM

you pull the pod thing that the clock currently sits in out and put the clock in the zero sports pod one. ive got one but havent got round to fitting it yet......

RobsyUK 13 May 2009 07:59 AM

oww I like that. where can I get one?

Ah ok. I assume that when you pull the clock up into the pod there appears a gap in the dash for the wiring? What's the quality like? Cheers for the reply.

Google up. Or try Nengun, EDO or other importer of JDM bits. Be prepared for the shocking price though.

So it's right then that the clock is removed from it's old attachment and fitted to the Zero/Sports pod, rather than the pod just plonking over the top?

scooby-tc 13 May 2009 09:54 AM

yep the top dash part that houses the clock is completely removed and the clock slots into the back of the zerosports pod and positioned where the old one was

That's perfect thank you. I've spent ages looking around and all the explanations just say it sits on top of the original clock part. Not that it comes out and clock reattaches.

It looks gorgeous too :thumb:.

I actually owned one of these pods for a while but I found the major design flaw with it was the overhang above the gauges faces isn't sufficient... so at night the gauges are visibly reflected in the windscreen. Even on lowest defi illumination setting I found this annoying and could have been dangerous. I think the carbon ones have a slightly longer overhang. The defi pods have a much longer overhang for sure, so have no reflection, and are under £100... I know where my money would go :-)

scooby-tc 13 May 2009 11:23 PM

no problems with my one

Jay_ 13 May 2009 11:26 PM

Which is carbon Daz... so a longer overhang. I think the non-carbon ones all have the shorter overhang. Might not bother some people I guess, but worth knowing.

scooby-tc 13 May 2009 11:32 PM

unlike your good self :D

Hmm, could be trouble-some. Something to think about. Thanks for the reply :thumb:

Zero Sports Gauge Pod

Hi guys,

I know its an old thread but i was hoping someone could help, I have bought my impreza wrx with one of these pods on (not the carbon) and i want to take the pod off as i want to pass a cable up through for a sensor i have, but i dont want to use brute force and ignorance. I took out one of the gauges and had a look inside but cant see much, it feels tighter at the front than the rear, do i just pull and lift or something, if anyone can give me some advice that would be great.

Many thanks

Its held in by a few clips front and back, work from the back first, they are pretty stiff when fitted but just use a bit of safe strength if you get my drift and the pod will come out if you get a firm plastic spatula or tape up a large flat head screw driver so as not to scratch up your pod and work the corners at the back first, you should be fine.SJ.

All triple pods fit Subarus the same way here is a pic of the clips and the position of the fronts the backs are In the same place but at the back,as I said before pop them out first and then the fronts should ease out.SJ.
