offset needs changing?
i'm in the notts area, does anyone know of any engeneer place that can change my off set by 3mm
there a 42 offset, but just been told by the company i got them from. i need a 45 i got them as i needed a set of wheels to go over my brembos but with 215/45/17 tyres, there no good any ideas:confused: |
wheelspacers?
|
it needs the opasite mate
its an offset 42. it needs lowering but to do this, it needs machining by about 3mm |
I would like to know who does this as I need mine doing by 3mm as they rub the arches when there weight in the back.
Stuart. |
if i get these to be an: et45/47 they should fit great.
just need to know where does it. i've just got in touch with inovite direct, to see what they say |
ah... gotcha.... it all makes sense now.... unfortunately I'm none the wiser on who could help.... keep us informed on what Inovite say....
|
i will, they make the things. so should know
either that or send the wheels back. & go else where |
There's no way I'd be maching 3mm off a wheel face.
|
Have you tried them over the Brembo's yet? Because you can't always go just by the ET, its about the spoke design too. From my understanding, you have got it wrong. You need a higher ET to fit, and I'm sure thats not done by machining, but by spacers. On the STi rims that do go over Brembos, they have ET53. I had some ET48 thats didn't fit. There was a thread on here last week about this, it cant be done safely as the nut insert is there and it takes the strength out.

sorted
found a place that has done this before all i need to do, is fit the brakes. then mesure the distance fron to points. 1) from the calipers to the spokes 2) from the edge of therim to the suspention legs. as regards to the strengh. all that will be needed, is 3/5mm off. this will make the off set et45/47. but its only going to cost me £20 per wheel. the wheels would fit, with 215/40's but i need to put 215/45's due to the fact its cost a p1 box in there. the speedo is miles out with 40'on, with 45's. its like normal. 3mph out at say 35/40mph if anyone needs the number for this place, pm me |

I would speak to the manufacturer of the wheels as regards the effects taking 3mm of alloy out of their wheels to see what they have to say before going ahead. |
High there, if you are doing this to correct a speedo then if it over-reads then they all do, every speedo ever made over reads, usually by around 10% so your sounds about right - assuming it OVER-reads.

:) changing from 45 to 40 profile will affect the rolling radius and also your speedo reading. I understand offset and what you wish to do but i would advise you speak to the manufacturer re removing metal and ultimately strength from them.
ATB Paul so min of 215/45/17. i've tryed it out and it brings it more to sink. but with me putting brembo's on the car, its stuffed every thing up. i need better brakes, but having probs getting hold of a set of wheels that will take the tyres i have & fit under the arche. :wonder: but i know where your coming from mate. i've looked into every thing. just the place i got the wheels from, dident :thumb: |
