New member with a project

Hi all
just thought i would say hello and show u a little project i have on the go.
i recently brought this 99 wrx of a fellow scoobynet member (Apac)
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...ter/scooby.jpg
The car was surprisingly a cat c write off
I will be doing the panel work my self and one of my work colleagues will do the paint work as i work in a bodyshop
here are some photos of the progress so far

http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...beater/088.jpg
The 1/4 panel was cut and drilled off, then the inner arch was given a little pull back into position
to cut the cost of buying a new door and 1/4 panel another shell was brought with running gear and door's but no engine and damaged on the n/s. i was able to to remove o/s 1/4 panel and the door a fit to my car

Never seen so much filler in a new panel, Hope you pulled it before you cut the i/4 off;), anyway welcome and prepare to be skint:(

REDBULL2 26 April 2009 11:32 AM

welcome to scooby net
top job :thumb:

apac 26 April 2009 11:37 AM

well done Justin. it puts a sad feeling in my gut to see the old girl. But she is in the right hands now. i'm still scoobless and am chasing Type-R's and Type RA's up and down the country without success as yet. It pains me to think the amount of money i chucked at that car over the past 4 years. You've certainly picked a good un! once the body has been repaired you are good to go. all consumables have been replaced and all problems relating to a scooby of this age has been taken care of. big servicing all done. performance clutch. calipers re-coned etc etc..

i just hope the day will come when we pull up at the lights together when i've sourced my new scooby:norty:

good luck with the rest of the work. i'll pop down to the workshop soon:thumb:

oh, and don't forget about the exhaust etc...

Andrew

it was a second hand 1/4 panel which unfortunately was all ready full of filler round the arch area, and yes it had a pull before the 1/4 was drilled off:thumb:

Good work. Nice to see a car saved.
Why the different alloys in the last pics? Can't decide? lol

dandruffe 26 April 2009 10:05 PM

are you in cardiff doing that bodywork? have some of my own that needs doing on a green classic, albeit nothing quite as serious...... good job!!

madbeater 26 April 2009 10:33 PM

Thanks for the warm welcome guy's!
still looking for a gold wheel same as the one in the photo above.also need a petrol flap if any one can help feel free to pm me.
I managed to make a start on the bumper today
as you can see it is split quite badley
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...ater/001-1.jpg
I used some peices of steel and counter sunk rivets to brace bumper back in correct possition like so
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...beater/007.jpg

I then plastic welded both inside and outside the bumper

http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...beater/008.jpg
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...beater/009.jpg
just needs a light skim of stopper then primer.
