is the jdm turbo engine safe to run on 1.1 bar boost with spiking to 1.3. this is tune with ecutek

how does the jdm sti 2.0 compare with eudm sti 2.5L?

corradoboy 25 April 2009 06:10 PM

I'm not knowledgeable about boost figures and remaps, but the JDM spec EJ20 revs higher to 8k and through use of equal length headers with twin scroll turbo has more torque which is available lower down the rev range and for longer.

JDM, it delivers its power far more progressivly, its smoother, has a faster steering rack, dccd etc, its just more of a focused driving machine :D

Tony:D

JDM

My standard sti7 was just as quick if not slightly quicker than my brothers sti8 ppp

Sc0oby 26 April 2009 02:17 PM

how much can these jdm stock turbo/engine takes?

stevebt 26 April 2009 02:28 PM

The JDM sti also revs to 8k where as the UK model only does 7krpm :)

TonyBurns 26 April 2009 02:29 PM

Stock turbos can run around 360bhp, stock engines, 420+ the new litchfield type 20 is running 400bhp :)

Tony:)

I would have more faith in a jdm engine, :)

are the two engines that different then?

stevebt 26 April 2009 03:20 PM

The two engines are totaly different, the JDM one will be miles ahaed of the euro spec one and stronger parts

Tank133 26 April 2009 03:26 PM

when i bought my jdm was told they have different internals from the uk spec but this is my 1st subaru so not sure how much is true

UK STI's rev to 7.5K before hitting the limiter.

Sc0oby 28 April 2009 08:14 AM

i believe the jdm sti v8 doesnt have a TGV delete? better cylinder head port as stated by japanese tuner tomei

bluenose172 28 April 2009 02:10 PM

I thought all STi's came without the TGV valves. The VF36 turbo can handle 1.5-1.6 peak tailing to 1.1-1.2 at the red line.

Sc0oby 29 April 2009 03:42 AM

if i am not mistaken euro/usdm version did came with it due to tougher emission standards

dynamix 29 April 2009 06:24 AM

03 UK STi limit is 7500
06 UK STi limit is 6900 but has tons more torque. My money would be on the UK car on a point to point, real world test.

Sc0oby 01 May 2009 04:25 AM

anyone has any idea how to adapt the jdm head to the 2.5 sti block? is it a straight bolt on affair? how about the intake manifold?

Donie 16 May 2020 02:26 PM

jdm Hawk

Ok, went to look at the car yesterday, Nice clean car. As stated above the advert was a bit vague.
Imported from Japan July 2019 so clean under body
greddy slam panel.
upgraded air intake under bonnet scoop
Has a spec C air turbo fitted,
Whiteline rear anti roll bar and adjustable drop links. Thats all is could see from the ground.

There was a decat downpipe and new oem oil pump included in sale as a new timing belt kit was going to be fitted.
Sound guy, well into he's subarus too like the rest of us.

Left a deposit and will be back next week when i get the funds.

Plan to do:
* Soften the coilovers
* Full timing belt kit
* remap for Irish fuel
* fit a front splitter
* fit a nice guage cluster
